The same media if used constructively can boost morale of law abiding citizens and create fear in the mind of criminals to dissuade them from committing crime. 1. Worldly Wisdom.. Do Change
A robber lived with his wife and a small son.
One night when the robber returned home, he found
that his son was still awake and his wife was telling a
story to him.
She was telling the story, how a young
man faced hardship and fought for truth
and how he came out victorious at the end.
The robber rebuked his wife for telling such silly stories and spoiling his son.
Then the robber told his son the story of his great grandfather. He narrated how
his great grandfather was such a great robber. The robber told his son:

2. Your great grandfather was really great
He was greatest robber born till date
He robbed people each day and night
And all the king’s men feared his might
When his fame spread so far and near
People just paid him out of fear
No doubt, the robber’s son was inspired and himself became a great robber.
During that time, the administration was weak.
There was no law and order. There was rampant
corruption. The king lacked concern for plight
of common people and did nothing to improve
the situation. Then a competent person became
the king. He cracked down on criminals. That
particular robber was also held and put behind bars.
The robber told the king, how from childhood he was
influenced by his father to become a robber. The king observed that if a story

3. could influence a child to become a robber, it could also influence children to
become law abiding citizens.
So the king ordered that the robber be taken to different schools to tell his story
to children. The robber told his plight to the children.
To be a robber, I thought was great
That I was wrong, I learnt too late
It brought me to this sorry state
Each day in jail, I curse my fate
The story had positive impact on children. They learnt that it is not good to be
antisocial. This is power of media to do change.
