5. Fiberoptic Network
Optical Budget = Rx ( dBm) – Tx ( dBm)
Total Loss = Fiber Loss ( dB) + Connector Loss ( dB) + Splice loss ( dB)
Typical Loss
Connector = 0.5dB
Splice = 0.05 dB
Fiber = 3dB @ 850, 1dB @ 1300 , 0.35dB@ 1310 , 0.25dB@1550

6. Different SM Fibers
1. G652B – SM Fiber with high water peak value.
OLD Single Mode Fiber.
2. G652D- SM fiber with low water peak value. New
Single Mode Fiber
3. G653 - Dispersion Shifter Fiber. Fiber with Zero
Dispersion at 1550nm
4. G655 - Non Zero Dispersion Shifter Fiber. Fiber
which has low dispersion at 1550nm
5. G657 - Bend Insensitive Fiber . Used for FTTx
applications.

13. Clean Lens Protector
SUMITOMO ELECTRIC
Clean with IPA . Then clean dry. Make sure the
correct lens protectors are placed on correct
positions. In auto mode X camera observes the
glow of the arc and then automatically adjust
arc power .

58. Fibre MFD Mismatch
Mode Field Diameter mismatch causes exaggerated
loss ad exaggerated gain in OTDR. Please consult
your OTDR manufacturer for training on bi-directional
OTDR analysis . Splicing loss is always calculated on
1310 nm
