Turning  Great  Ideas  Into  Great
          Mobile  Apps

Great ideas aren’t the only ingredient necessary
for making great apps. Building truly great apps
depends on a development process focused on
     quality and authenticity. Here’s ours.
Discovery
•  First, we learn everything we can about your app
idea. This starts with a one-on-one conversation
about what you want your app to do. Defining the
primary functional goal(s) of your app is the most
important step in the process. For example, what
need is your app fulfilling, and how? How does it fit
into your business model? What type of users will
   interact with the app?
•  This gives us our target for the functional needs of
   the final product.
Inspiration
•  In the inspiration phase, we cultivate ideas about
the look and feel of your app. This involves you
sharing apps, websites, magazine pictures, or other
media that matches the aesthetic direction you
want to take with your app.
•  We also do research of our own to more fully refine
what does and doesn’t belong within the aesthetic
vision of your app. We’ll share what we find with
you, and use your feedback to guide the big
picture of the aesthetic design of your app.
Documentation
•  In the documentation phase of your app’s development, we
put everything you want delivered in writing. This ensures that
we understand each other perfectly – you know what you’re
getting, and we know what we’re making.
•  The point of the documentation phase is to go through the
details of the big picture, and establish a feedback loop. This
gives you the chance to reflect on the plans for your app, and
drive the development process according to your likes, wants,
   and needs.
•  During this process, we also suggest ways to improve your
app. We draw on the successes of other apps, and share their
techniques with you to decide if they make the final cut.
•  At this phase of the process, we also design a user-decision
workflow to show how users will be able to navigate through
your app, and to demonstrate how different features will work
   together.
Design
•  From a development perspective, great apps are the
product of two things – intuitive , effective function, and
beautiful aesthetic design. This is where we unite the two.
•  We start with a mockup of what your app will be. This
produces a nearly functional rough draft of your app –
   the intuitive design.
•  We then use our mockup to design the aesthetic. Some
apps are graphics-heavy, while others are more
minimalistic. Here we nail down what your app looks and
   feels like.
•  Both of these steps are designed to establish further
feedback about your final product. It is not uncommon
to have several iterations of each of these steps.
However, this is what produces consistently great apps.
Coding
•  Coding for your app doesn’t start until we’re both
sure about the product you’ll be receiving. That’s
because making changes before the coding starts
is a cost-effective strategy for producing high-
   quality products.
•  At this phase of the process, our developers build
the code that will be your app.
•  As each feature of your app is coded, it is also
tested for functionality. This minimizes bugs in your
final product so your app delivers a flawless user
   experience.
Beta  Testing
•  In beta testing, you and your friends, family,
coworkers, or whoever you decide get to take your
full app for a test drive. This is where your app gets
tested with all the parts working together.
•  Our goal with beta testing is to make sure your app
delivers a flawless experience, and fix any bugs you
   may find.
Release
•  Submitting your app to the iTunes App Store, to
Google Play, or other app markets is handled for
   you if you desire.
•  During this phase, we also optimize your app for the
store. This includes defining a keyword strategy,
creating the screenshots, and the actual copy that
will be shown on the store. Before submission, all of
the screenshots, copy, and keywords are submitted
to you for approval or modifications so that your
app best reflects your vision within each store.
Warranty
•  All of our apps come with a 1 year warranty. If any
bugs arise within the first 12 months, we’ll fix them for
   free.
Refinement
•  It’s very rare to find successful apps that haven’t
made modifications after their initial release. Letting
users interact with your app tells us about how the
   app can be improved.
•  We can also test and improve your store copy,
keyword strategy, and screenshots to improve
   downloads.
•  We track user interactionand download data, and
review it with you to make sure our refinement
   strategy hits the mark.
