Experience
Student Researcher,National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg MD May 2016 – Present
Student Researcher tasked with optimizing the design of a cold neutron source to be used in a new research
reactor. Using MCNP particle simulation code to optimize the cold source design to produce the maximum
cold neutron flux with minimal nuclear heat load.
Physics Capstone Project, Le Moyne College, Syracuse NY September 2015 – December 2015
Studied the periods of two binary star systems using a ground based telescope and CCD camera. Obtained
light curves for Algol and Beta Lyrae from which the period of each was measured. Obtained the spectra of a
wide range of stars which were used to determine spectraltype and surface temperature of each.
Research Assistant,Le Moyne College, Syracuse NY May 2014 – May 2016
Research Assistant in Fast Neutron Spectrometry. Goal is to design and build a neutron detector capable of
use in underground dark matter research labs. Designed and constructed a light tight “dark box” used in the
testing of photomultiplier tubes. In charge of running computer simulations using MCNP simulation program
in order to optimize detector design. Presented this work at the Fall Scientific Paper Session for the Rochester
Academy of Science on November 7, 2015 as well as the Syracuse University Physics Undergraduate
Research Day on December 5, 2015.
Physics Tutor, Le Moyne College, Syracuse NY September 2014 – September 2015
Aid introductory level Physics students with homework and test preparation.
Technician,Packet TV,Syracuse NY June 2012 – January 2015
Provide technical support for the customer help desk. Imaging and testing of MS Windows based tablets.
Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Excel. Experience with Maple, Igor Pro,MATLAB, PTC Creo Parametric 2.0
(Pro/ENGINEER), AutoCAD, Multisim, Python, Java, and MCNP.
