1. Juliette Gordon Low’s 156th
Birthday
Who are we celebrating?
Juliette Gordon Low was born in Oct. 31, 1860, and grew up to be a very independent
woman. She partook in many things, such as athletics, the arts, animals, and nature. In
1912, after meeting with the founder of the Boy Scouts, she started the Girl Scouts. In
her program she incorporated all of her interest in order to help girls from different social
classes and ethnicities become leaders.
Why are we celebrating?
We are celebrating Juliette Gordon Low’s 156th birthday to honor her for inspiring
generations of young women.
When?
On Thursday, Oct. 27, from 4-7 p.m. at the Fresno Council Office. (1377 W. Shaw Ave,
Fresno).
What will we do?
Since Low’s birthday lands on Halloween, we are celebrating it Halloween’ style! This
means that we will celebrate by decorating our trunks, passing out candy, playing
games, and doing crafts.
Why should you go?
You will have the opportunity to dress up as anything you want, as well as bring out
your creativity in creating a themed trunk, and possibly winning a prize.
Things to keep in mind.
Troops that have a booth will need to provide their own candy and prizes to give away.
