ROCHAK PITARA
2. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
There was a milkmaid
named Patty. Every
time Patty went to sell
milk, she dreamt about
the things she could
buy from the money
she will get from selling
the milk.
3. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
Patty thought
about buying
the new
sandals, a fairy
dress, a pearl
necklace and
many more
things .
4. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
One day Patty was on her way to the market to sell
some milk from her cow. As she carried the large
pail of milk on top of her head, she again began to
dream of all the things she could do after selling
the milk.
5. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
“I am going to buy
chicken with the money
I get today. The chicken
will lay eggs. Then I can
sell milk and eggs at the
same time and earn
more money to spend.
I’ll also sell the fully
grown chicks at a good
price at the market.”
6. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
As she walked on, she continued
dreaming, “Then I’ll buy two
young goats and rear them on
the grass close by. When they
are fully grown, I can sell them at
an even better price!”
7. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
Still dreaming, she said to
herself, “Soon, I’ll be able to buy
another cow, and I will have
more milk to sell. Then I shall
have even more money...”
8. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
With more money, I can buy a
bicycle and everyone will be
jealous of me. Oh, I can't wait to
buy chicken.”
9. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
With these happy
thoughts, she began
to skip and jump.
Suddenly she tripped
and fell. The pail and
all the milk spilled all
over onto the ground.
10. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
No more dreaming now, she sat down and cried.
11. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
She took the empty pail
and went back home crying.
Her mother saw her and
asked: "What happened to
you?” Patty explained
everything that happened to
her mother. Her mother
replied, “O dear! Do not
count your chickens before
they are hatched.”
12. The MILKMAID AND HER PAIL
Patty asked, “What does
it mean, mother?” Her
mother replied, “It
means that you should
focus on what you have
rather than making
plans based on what
might be.” Patty knew
her mother was right
and she quickly realised
her mistake.
