Slurry is a mixture of rockdust and water that is sprayed onto mine surfaces through nozzles to control dust. It provides better dust control than dry rockdust alone because it adheres tightly to roof, ribs, and floor. A typical mixture uses 50 pounds of rockdust and 2.8 gallons of water. Larger slurry dusters can hold up to 1,800 gallons of slurry mixture and coat areas up to 300 feet away.
