Graduation ceremony details
The awarding/conferment of the Bachelor of Commerce Honours will take place in the Rembrandt Hall, LC de
Villiers Sports Ground, South Street, Hatfield, (Coordinates: S25°45'21'' /E28°13'51'') during a graduation
ceremony on 2015-04-30 at 15:00.
• Academic dress is compulsory for all ceremonies and may be purchased or hired by candidates at their
own expense from our only official supplier, Dippenaar & Reinecke. (752 Park Street [corner of Park and
Beckett streets], Arcadia, Pretoria (tel: 012 343 2945/7).
o Graduates in the Defence Force, Police Service, etc. may attend the ceremony in uniform on
condition that the full uniform (with cap) is worn together with the academic gown. It is expected
of these graduates to salute the officiating functionary (Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and
Principal, or Vice-Principal).
• You are required to collect your presentation card between 14:00 and 14:30 in the tent in front of the
Rembrandt Hall, LC de Villiers Sports Centre and to be seated not later than 30 minutes before the start
of the proceedings. If you arrive late, you will not be permitted to proceed to the stage and may collect your
certificate/diploma/degree at the certificate table after the proceedings. This service will be available for half
an hour after the ceremony.
• Guests are welcome to attend the ceremony and seating cards are not required for admission. Bear in
2. mind however, that should you bring more than four guests, there might not be sufficient seating for the
guests of other candidates. Your guests are requested to take their seats at least 20 minutes before the start
of the proceedings. No children under the age of six will be allowed.
• The official photographer, Gordon Harris Photographic CC takes photographs of all candidates during the
ceremony. No other private photographers will be allowed to take photographs during the ceremony. The
official photographer will also be available after the ceremony for further photographs.
• Candidates and their guests are reminded that NO vuvuzelas or whistles are allowed at the official
graduation ceremony.
• If you will not attend the ceremony, your certificate/diploma/degree will be kept in safe keeping.If you have a
special request to collect or to receive your certificate/diploma/degree via post or courier services please
complete the UP100 from attached hereto.
Your attention is drawn to Regulation G.15 of the General Regulations of the University, which states: "With the
exception of an honorary degree, a degree will be conferred on a student only if the student has complied with all
the requirements for the particular degree and has reached the level of competence prescribed for each module
that is required for the degree, and on condition that no one is entitled to any privileges pertaining to a degree
before the degree has been conferred on him or her at a graduation ceremony."
