To whom it may concern
It is a true pleasure for me to write this letter of recommendation for Robin Lescure, whom
I supervised for his placement in my laboratory group for the summer of 2016. Robin is an
extraordinary person. During his placement, I found him to be a very intelligent, motivated
and hardworking student who makes deductions very easily. He enjoys reading peer
review papers, textbooks and likes to discuss ideas, progress and future work.
He is very punctual, polite, generous, well mannered, and very thoughtful about everyone.
He is very dedicated to his work, communicates very well with fellow colleagues and
lecturers.
During his placement, he has demonstrated initiative, independence and a very positive
attitude, as well as a good understanding of the projects and the ability to solve problems
effectively.
Robin has learnt many techniques in the synthesis of chemical compounds, some classic
methodologies and some using a microwave reactor. He has also worked extensively in the
purification and characterisation of the molecules, employing IR, NMR and MS, he has also
volunteered to work on other projects once his was finished.
Robin has very good written and verbal communication skills; he is well organised and
reliable. He has also demonstrated very good laboratory practices, record keeping and
production of documents. He is very committed to expand his scientific knowledge.
Robin has also been invaluable in my research group, taking the lead in developing
experiments and helping colleagues to perform assays and interpreting data, this helped
him to develop teamwork as well as leadership skills.
He is one of the best placement students I had in my laboratory group and with no doubt I
would place him in the top 5% of students for all intellectual, technical, problem-solving,
teamwork and motivation abilities. Robin will be a highly valuable asset in any lab. If you
require any further information or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact
me.
