1. Central Ohio Technical College
(COTC) is celebrating a big mile-
stone this year – its 45thanni-
versary. In February, 1971, the
Ohio Board of Regents officially
created and chartered
Central Ohio Tech-
nical Institute. The
name was changed
to Central Ohio
Technical College
later that same month
and has remained.
Celebrating the 45th anniver-
sary of Central Ohio Technical
College is very special,” said
COTC President Bonnie L. Coe,
Ph.D. “COTC has come so far,
and I’m tremendously proud
of the work being done by our
faculty and staff to prepare our
students for high-paying, in-de-
mand jobs in our community.”
The creation of COTC started
with the Newark Area
Chamber of Com-
merce. Chamber
leaders believed
that access to ed-
ucation after high
school was key to
the growth of the re-
gion. Community leaders such
as, Allen Milliken, former exec-
utive director of the Newark
Area Chamber of Commerce, J.
Gilbert Reese, former local at-
torney, and Howard LeFevre.

New Building set for COTC
and OSUN
By Jane Doe
New COTC and OSUN Building Dedicated for the 2016-2017 academic
school year.
The dedication of the new Facilities
Operations Building on the shared cam-
pus of Central Ohio Technical College
(COTC) and The Ohio State University
at Newark Wednesday (May 4) morning
celebrated the continued growth of the
campus and the hard work of its valued
employees. The 15,000 square foot
building is now home to the landscape
and maintenance teams, providing them
with updated office space, workshops,
meeting space, secured vehicle and
equipment storage, and break facili-
ties. “This is absolutely wonderful,” said
COTC President Bonnie L. Coe, Ph.D.
“You probably think we are celebrating
a building; but in my opinion, we are
celebrating our people. A big part of
the beauty of our campus is our facil-
ities, groundskeeping and maintenance
teams.”
Ground was broken on the $3.65 million
project in February 2015. The project
was financially supported through both
institutions with state and local funding.
“This building is another great example
of the cost-shared relationship between
COTC and Ohio State Newark.”

Land Donation to COTC honors entrepreneur
by Newark Advocate
More than 31 acres of land on
Country Club Drive in Newark
have been donated to the
Central Ohio Technical Col-
lege. The land was donated in
memory of its previous owner,
William Camlin, who was a
general contractor and started
the W. J. Camlin Co. in 1928,
and his late daughter Jane
Tammen, according to a news
release. Camlin, originally from
Rockford, Illinois, before mov-
ing to Newark, was involved
in the Newark community and
was a past president of the
Newark Rotary Club. He died
in 1986.

in a row. The Coshocton City Council
and the Coshocton Is Blooming Board

for this award again,” said Building Su-
