The mission of the CGI.br involves certain rights and responsibilities, which include: • proposing policies and procedures regarding the regulation of Internet activities; • recommending standards for technical and operational procedures for the Internet in Brazil; • establishing strategic directives related to the use and development of the Internet in Brazil; • promoting studies and technical standards for network and service security in the country; • coordinating the allocation of Internet addresses (IPs) and registration in the <.br> domain; • collecting, organizing and disseminating information on Internet services, including indicators and statistics.

  32. 32. Why the Open Web is important for the Open Data? • Decentralized: Anyone can create a website or a web service. The Web is not governed by any entity. It's free. • Transparent: people can view the source code of the pages and read data from exit points (API's etc) • Distributed: Allows Open Data can be produced, distributed and reused;

Providing services based on open data • Exploring the potential of interoperability and innovation of OpenWeb tools to create new ways of access to applications and services through third party services; • For example: consulting clinics, police stations, gas, near the ZIP Code of the citizen;

  37. 37. Publish and reuse data in an open format is not trivial task. • What data should we publish? • In what format? • What is priority? • How to do it? • What license to use?
