of providing the best solutions,
exceptional experiences, and

improve members’ financial well-being
and, in doing so, has experienced
remarkable growth over the past 75

SAFE has grown into a financial
leader serving individuals and
businesses throughout the region.
Today, maintaining assets in excess
of $2.1 billion, SAFE is the second-
largest credit union in Sacramento, in
the top 25 in California, and among
the top 100 in the United States.
With a reach spanning 12 counties in
Northern California, SAFE serves more
than 183,000 individuals through
22 branch locations, a local Call
Center, and innovative mobile and
online solutions. And, SAFE is one
of the leading local Small Business
Administration (SBA) lenders in
the Greater Sacramento region.
SAFE’s success is a compendium of
the vision, trials, and achievements
of numerous dedicated board and
committee volunteers, credit union
employees, and active members.

3. Community Involvement
The staff, executives, and volunteer
Board of Directors at SAFE take
great joy in serving the community
through a variety of philanthropic
and volunteer efforts. Each year,
SAFE expands its support of
nonprofit healthcare organizations,
educational programs, and financial
confidence efforts. For example:
• As a patron of the Aerospace
Museum of California, SAFE helps
support and expand operations,
educational programs, and
exhibitions celebrating the heritage
of military and civilian aviation
while enhancing awareness of
aerospace science. The Aerospace
Learning Center encourages
students to explore, experience,
and engage through science,
technology, engineering and
mathematics (STEM) hands-on
activities designed to inspire and
motivate students of all ages.
• SAFE partners with the Sacramento
County Office of Education as
the title sponsor of the annual
Sacramento County Academic
Decathlon. Providing $10,000 in
financial support, SAFE provides
scholarships to the exceptional
high school student medalists and
winning teams. SAFE also sponsors
four local high schools’ participation,
reaffirming the importance of
a well-rounded education.
• As a proud underwriter of the
locally-produced series “ViewFinder”
and “Yes, We’re Open” on KVIE

providing an in-depth perspective
to local issues across our region.

bring tens of thousands of visitors
the thrill of aerial acrobatics, the
rich history of vintage aeronautics,
and all the marvels of flight.

health, SAFE supports the UC
Davis Health System and Medical
School and the next generation
of healthcare professionals. SAFE
presents two scholarships each
year for UC Davis medical students,
sponsors Mini Med Schools and
Palliative Care Fellowships, and
provides facilities at no charge
to the Paul Hom Asian Clinic.
• Through SAFE’s esteemed internship
program high school students learn
first-hand about credit unions,
developing real-world business
skills they then put to use running
their own on-campus credit union
branches. Students learn through
day-to-day branch operations and
managing their own accounts.
