2. zeitgeist
To em, the mega trend is Zeitgeist, the mood or spirit of particular time. The importance that
is going to be given to world events, and awareness, the sense of protest, the sense of
speaking out, having a voice, is going to be huge.
3. The most recent news,2015
To start off, I looked at the world news along with Indian news. The difference between the
topics of the two gives a very clear insight about the difference of issues.
4. Looking at the recent news, clearly there is a sense of unrest all over the world. Wars, economic
crisis, refugees seeking asylum in different countries, stock market of countries like China
crashing ,while the Greek financial crisis threats the European Union and will have an impact on
world economy.
In India on the other hand there seems to be a string of bans being implemented by the government
on alcohol, porn and even down to food. This over control of the government has already seen signs
of protests and very vocal criticism from all members of the society, especially the youth. There is an
underlying see f protest, rage and anger building up when there is an attempt to control the lives of
individuals.
In terms of communication, the power of social media has become a platform for all kind of visual
activity and plays an important role in influencing the thinking and kind of things people are exposed
to now. The recent addition of Instagram ads is clear evidence of how the various markets are trying
to use the platforms now, especially the fashion and design markets.
There is a need for sustainability now, and it has been a trending topic. In the next two years
sustainability will be the fashion .It will become a trend, and maybe an everlasting one. People are
more aware today, they ahem more access to information, news and changing impacts on the
environment . There will be an inherent support for brands and designers that adopt sustainable
methods.

5. The current trend of ‘mash ups’ will stay on. In the world of fast fashion, and bloggers,
this trend allows one to wear their outfits individualistically and artistically.

6. Another important thing that I noticed is that due the Indian stock market is rising, and
probably India will be at its peak in the next 2 years. This would grab a lot of attention
to Indian styles, and the Indian market, which might result in textiles, crafts, prints
form India. Handlooms, Indian handicrafts, prints, fabrics will gain a lot of attention.
7. Use of type to make statements, and interdisciplinary collaborations
8. DIY trends are probably going to have a trick up effect. People wan tot do things
themselves, and creativity is the new trend. The various possible experiments what
people can do with something as simple as jeans can be a textile trend.
