CORE VALUES
11. Upon arrival, logs that are appropriate for slicing and peeling are
typically sorted in the log-yard according to size and species.
Depending on the weight and size of the logs, handling may be
done with heavy lift trucks, derricks, or cranes.
11/4/2022 11
PLYWOOD PRODUCTION PROCESS
(Log Yard / Log Conditioning)
Most timbers must be conditioned before peeling in order to
soften the wood and simplify peeling while producing veneer of a
suitable quality. The peeler blocks are subjected to conditioning by
being soaked in hot water vats, exposed to live steam, or sprayed
with hot water.
Log Yard
Soaking
12. The size that the logs are cut to depends typically on the
production at the time of cutting; the size of the finished panel and
the direction of the grain both matter.
11/4/2022 12
PLYWOOD PRODUCTION PROCESS
(Cutting / Debarking)
Logs are fed into a debarking machine as shown in the picture.
The cutting head on the track rotates backward with the log from
end to end as it rotates from the ridged wheels, removing the bark.
Its goal is to remove the bark without harming the timber.
Cutting
Debarking
13. With the use of a large rotary lathe, the markings left behind by the
debarking knives on the log are eliminated. The machine rotates
the log while cutting it with a long blade. With the exception that
the blade is parallel to the log when cutting, the method of cutting
is similar to sharpening a pencil.
11/4/2022 13
PLYWOOD PRODUCTION PROCESS
(Peeling / Reeling)
The next step after peeling is to make a continuous ribbon of
wood. As the log rotates and advances toward the lathe's cutting
edge, thin, continuous layers of wood are formed. Depending on
its intended application, the veneer can vary in thickness.
Peeling
Reeling
14. After being graded and sized, either manually or with high-speed
knives, the green veneer is next piled up and prepared for drying.
The sheet is then trimmed out to remove any flaws like splits and
knots.
11/4/2022 14
PLYWOOD PRODUCTION PROCESS
(Clipping / Stacking)
Clipping
The veneer sheets are stacked after clipping in order
to move them into drying machines and allow them to
cure there.

PLYWOOD PRODUCTION PROCESS
(Clipping / Drying)
Drying
In order to facilitate the gluing procedure during the
production of the plywood, the veneer must be dried to a
moisture level of between 2 and 10 percent. The veneer
sheets may be kiln-dried or left out in the open to dry in
the air depending on where the plywood mill is located
and how advanced it is. When veneer is dried in a kiln, it
can be dried in batches or continuously as sheets are
automatically moved along a continuous belt or roller
system through the dryer.
Obviously a controlled drying environment, with minimal handling, will result in a more
uniformly dried veneer, with the least amount of damage. Veneer drying accounts for some 70
percent of the thermal energy consumed in plywood production and approximately 60 percent of
the mill's total energy requirement. For this reason new and improved drying systems are being
constantly developed, as well as the manner in which they are heated. Dryer heating may be by
the indirect use of steam or thermic oil, or direct firing with the temperature being controlled by
the regulation of the fresh-air make-up. Although drying temperatures of between 90-160°C
may be considered normal, increased temperatures of some 175°C are being used on certain
species in order to reduce the overall drying time.
16. After the sheets are appropriately assembled, they are bound together using adhesives. Depending on the
kind of plywood being made, this is the time to choose the adhesives. Typically, urea formaldehyde resins
are employed when the plywood is intended to be of the general or conventional kind. The adhesives used
in marine plywood, on the other hand, are melamine- or phenol-based.
By running the veneers through a glue spreading machine, mills may ensure that the adhesive is applied
uniformly to the veneer's alternative layers. Then, in layers with odd numbers, they will be combined into
panels. Depending on how many veneer layers are used, the finished plywood product's thickness will be
established.

The assembled panels are then pre-pressed in a cold press under
controlled hydraulic pressure and ambient temperature. The
adhesive has adequate time to set up and successfully adhere the
veneer plys in each panel within the typical 20-minute operation.
This procedure aids in flattening the plywood as well as aiding in
bonding.

27. Before starting production entire line thoroughly cleaned and
sanitize with 50ppm chlorine, contact time is 20 mins post that we
will rinse with cleaned water.
Every four hours of production we will change cleaned chilled water
from chill water 1 & 2. This step will nullify bacterial growth.
Every 30 mins enzyme test conducting by the QA, if any deviations
noticed immediately production will be stopped post confirmation
will start the line.
All critical product temperatures like blanching, Chill water 1&2
and IQF Temperature will be checking and recording of the same
timely. Frequency every 60 mins.
