Rebekah Wood:
I am writing to express my interest in the circulation position at Oneonta Public Library.
Through Athens State University, I earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree with a
concentration in English/Language Arts with Certificate and Licensure. I also hold an
Associate of Science Degree from Wallace State Community College.
As you will see on my enclosed resume, I am a member of many collegiate organizations
such as Kappa Delta Pi and Sigma Tau Delta. While at Athens State, I maintained a 4.0
GPA and graduated at the top of my class with various honors and awards.
I have library experience at the high school, college, and public level. At J. B. Pennington
High School, I served as a library aide for an entire school year under the direction of
Sharon Breaseale. While I was attending WSCC, I was honored to serve as a work study
in the library at WSCC. Upon graduation from Athens State University, I applied for and
received the part-time cataloging assistant position at Oneonta Public Library.
Throughout my experiences at different libraries, I was able to showcase my ability to
learn job-related tasks quickly and efficiently. As head of the Teen Program at Oneonta
Public Library, I have been able to show my ability to organize and execute multiple
programs, to show my skills as a leader and person with a strong work ethic, and to
interact with various patrons and their children. With over a year’s experience at Oneonta
Public Library, I have learned various aspects that are essential to being at the Circulation
Desk such as knowing procedures and policies set up by Oneonta Library personnel and
Oneonta City personnel, knowing how to navigate the current circulation system, and
being familiar with the vastly diverse needs and preferences of library patrons.
As a demonstrated leader with knowledge and skills of the different aspects of the library,
I am confident that I am the most qualified candidate to fill this current position.
