Be Polite

3. Buildings of the future
Density
will have demands on them like neverbefore.
Community MixedUse
Especially in increasingly urban
areas, buildings will need to be
able to accommodate large
amounts of folks comfortably and
safely.
In a digital age, physical spaces
are becoming anchors for fostering
local communities. Buildings of the
future will need to find ways to
subvert the isolation that our digital
digital can foster.
The line between where we work
and where we live are
continuously blurring. As we
merge our physical spaces, how
might we maintain a mental
balance between those modes of
being?
5. Polite buildings:
Respect and accommodate the needs of
their residents
The buildings in which we live can set the stage for our
capacity to fulfill our potential. The can facilitate our
ability to transcend Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
Residents also need a healthy planet to live in, so
buildings of the future must be a positive force on our
ecosystem.
Areaccessible by all folks, acrossall
spectrums
Buildings only accessible to a few do more to isolate and
further stratify our society than they bring them together.
Buildings should be accessible to folks with disabilities, to
various expressions of culture, and to all social and
economic classes.
