oneplacebetterthanZaugg.
ButwithReidandDuvalboth
havingpulledoutgoodpoints
onJaniinthesprintrace,the
championshipscriptsaidthey
hadtohittroubleinthefeature
event.Andsoitproved–both
ofthemknewtheywerein
strifebeforetheyevengot
tothedummygrid.
Duvalhadaseriousclutch

theteamaboutit.Butinthe
timelefttherewasnothing
theycoulddo.”ThusDuval
coulddolittletoprevent
stallingatthestartofthe

turnedout,though,thathe’d
simplystalledthecarwhile

andfromthereIcouldhave
gotgoingagaintomakethe
grid,butIwasn’tgiventhe
opportunity,”reportedthe

Allthiswasgreatnewsfor
Jani,whoeffectivelyhadpole
position.Onthegriditlooked

potentiallyriskygambleon

beforehisstopcouldhave

keptuptheformadaylaterby
takingpoleforthesprintrace
aheadofSwitzerland’sNeel
JaniandZaugg.
Duvaleasilyconvertedpole
intotheleadattherollingstart,

compartmentsyndromethatweakenedhisarms.
Evenduringthecourseofaraceweekend,his
successesseemtocomeoutoftheblue.It’sroutine
tofindhimwaydownthetimesheetsinpracticeand
apparentlystruggling,onlytoseehimburstontothe
frontrow.Thenhemightfadeorerrintherace–or
