1. CURRICULUM VITAE: RIAAN SWEMMER
OVERVIEW OF PROFILE
I currently manage the Environmental Management Services Unit at Digby Wells
Environmental. For the past two years, it has been my responsibility to oversee this high
performing unit, while also consulting to our clients, bringing in new client work and project
managing the company’s deliverables to these clients.
My environmental consulting and project management expertise span local and international
Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Management Programmes, IWULAs and
IWWMPs, Waste Licence Applications, Basic Assessments, Feasibility Studies and Environmental
Compliance Assessments. Much of my experience has been in the mining sector (especially coal
and gold mining), but I have also been involved in projects in renewable energy, smelting and
refining and a variety of commercial and residential developments.
I have a love of learning and my time as an environmental consultant and a mathematics teacher
have afforded me the opportunity to sharpen my problem solving skills and polish my
communication. My studies culminated in an MSc in Zoology in the field of aquatic health.
The people I work with are very important to me, both colleagues and clients. I love to be part of a
team and particularly relish the opportunity to take a leadership role. I am fluent in both English and
Afrikaans and I am hard-working, practical and fiercely loyal. I love the outdoors and enjoy getting
in a round of golf when I have the chance.
