Jake Bugg to headline the launch of Barnardo's charity festival 'Better Days'
Barnardo’s charity today announced the launch of its new annual festival ‘Better Days’, with
all proceeds raised going towards funding a support centre for children who are victims of
abuse. The festival will take place at the Forest Recreation Ground in Forest Fields
Nottingham on 19th July 2014. The Festival will provide entertainment for all ages with the
daytime event beginning at 12am and continuing until 11pm, followed by an after event at
Rock City nightclub in Nottingham's city centre on Talbot Street.
Headlining at the day's event will be Nottingham's own Jake Bugg as well as Calvin Harris
and Ellie Goulding. In the evening the entertainment will consist of house DJ's, Jackmaster,
Scuba, Oneman, Bondax, Hannah Wants, Annie Mac and Jay Orbison.
Jake Bugg said, “I am honoured that I was asked to play at this event in aid of raising money
for the Barnardo's local support centre. It is always a buzz to return back to Nottingham and
sing in front of my local fans.”
The entry fee will be £10.00 for a family ticket and £27.50 for an evening ticket, which
allows entry to both the day and evening event. The money raised will go towards funding a
new support centre in Nottingham, a place where children and their families can go for
support and guidance. Providing a stable environment where the vulnerable can receive
friendly and confidential advice or just a place to escape the difficulties they may be enduring
at home.
Local businesses Starbucks, Jamie's Italian, and Las Iguana will give out free tasters at the
event. There will also be opportunities to purchase food throughout the day as well as
alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. The event will include a fun fair with rides ranging from
the tea-cups to the reverse bungee, as well as face painting, bouncy castles and zorbing. With
all activities costing just £2. A fund raising raffle will also take place, first prize is a once in a
lifetime holiday to Disney Land Paris, donated by Thomas Cook. Second prize will be signed
merchandise from Jake Bugg and third prize a free meal for two at Jamie's Italian
Nottingham.
Linda Cunningham from Nottingham City Council explained, “Forest fields has never hosted
such a big event before, I know that it will be a great turn out and hopefully we will raise lots
of money for a fantastic cause.”
Benjamin Warner from Barnardo's explained “The money raised from this event will help
support children across the East-Midlands who are victims of abuse. We hope you enjoy the
event, and help us to raise awareness for a worthy and local cause.”
