Physical health monitoring
• In April 2011 the physical health STR workers
from EL clinical treatment team (EL CTT) began
to correlate the results of the rethink physical
health checks. Initially this was simply to
ascertain the prevalence of previously
unidentified health needs within their client
group. The results of the April trial led to this
being continued over a two year period (April
2011 – April 2013)

Scope
• All patients seen by the EL CTT were included in the study. To
be classified as “previously unidentified” The condition had to
be something that the patient was either unaware of or
aware of but not brought it to the attention of a health
professional.
• For example:
• High cholesterol/triglycerides .
• High prolactin levels.
• Sexual dysfunction that they had never mentioned to a
health professional.
• Described symptoms associated with diabetes or
enlarged prostate.

Results
• Even though the sample size increased from 430 patients in
2011-12. To 671 patients in 2012-13. We still saw a:
• Fall of 30% of patients who had unidentified health
needs.
• 4% decrease in hyperprolactinaemia.
• 1% increase in patients who described symptoms of an
enlarged prostate.
• 3% decrease in hyperglycaemia.
• 6% decrease in sexual dysfunction.
• 5% decrease in hypertension.
• 15% decrease in hyperlipidaemia.
