Simulation of heatsink cooling on IGBT by ANSYS Fluent software
Heat sink is a metallic piece with a high thermal conductivity such
as copper and aluminum, which is placed on processors or
chipsets such as: Motherboards (which produce heat), in order to
enhance the performance, and allowing the processor to transfer
heat better, so that the processor does not go beyond the
standard temperature. In this analysis, the heat transfer from an
IGBT which is cooled by a cooling sink is simulated by ANSYS
Fluent software.

Simulation of heat transfer of the flow around some perforated fins
As the surface area increases, the transfer of heat increases. This process is done
using blades extending from the wall to the surrounding fluid. Some application of
blades are : motor cooling blades in the motorcycles, cooling blades in power
transformers, blade tubes used to increase the heat exchange between the air and
fluid in the ventilation devices.
In each application, selection of the type of blade depends on factors such as
dimensions, weight, cost, and the rate of reduction in convection coefficient at the level
of increasing the pressure drop across the blades. This is a suitable device for
analyzing the effect of the heat transfer surface, type of fin, base temperature on the
temperature distribution, and heat transfer in the Fins.
In this analysis, it has been tried to simulate and analyze the heat transfer of the fluid
flow around a perforated fin using the Ansys Fluent software.

Natural convection is a mechanism, or type of heat transport, in which the fluid motion is not
generated by any external source (like a pump, fan, suction device, etc.) but only by density
differences in the fluid occurring due to temperature gradients. In natural convection, fluid
surrounding a heat source receives heat and by thermal expansion becomes less dense and rises.
The surrounding, cooler fluid then moves to replace it.
Cooling of electrical and electronic systems has always been one of the major concerns of engineers
in improving the productivity of such systems. Cooling of such systems by fluids now has an
important part of the industry in fluid mechanics. Cooling by fluids, especially by free convection heat
transfer due to low cost and higher efficiency, has been a major encouragement for mechanical
engineers. One of the most important methods is the natural-oil-natural-air (NONA) cooling system
in a free convection heat transfer system in a transformator.
In this system, the air naturally comes in contact with the outside of the radiator. Radiators naturally
cool with the air. Also, the oil flow in the transformator is naturally circulating. The hot oil rises up and
the cold oil is replaced. This type of cooling system is limited to low power transformators, because
by increasing power of the transformator, the coil heat increases, and the oil must be exposed more
quickly to the outside air and cool down faster. This type of system is used for power transformators
up to MVA 30.

3D simulation of natural convection heat transfer in a transformator
Natural convection has attracted a great deal of attention from researchers because of its presence
both in nature and engineering applications. In nature, convection cells formed from air raising above
sunlight-warmed land or water are a major feature of all weather systems. Convection is also seen in
the rising plume of hot air from fire, plate tectonics, oceanic currents (thermohaline circulation) and
sea-wind formation (where upward convection is also modified by Coriolis forces).
As the temperature rises above the permitted level, transformators may be in danger. Different types
of transformators have different cooling options by considering their volumes. Convection heat
transfer in a transformator can be carried out in different ways using different fluids. One of the most
important of these methods is the natural cooling with air and oil.
In this system, the oil inside the transformator flows naturally to allow heat transfer. The air in contact
with the radiator body cools the radiator of the transformator. From the perspective view of
mechanical fluid engineering, this issue is a free convection heat transfer problem.
In this analysis, we tried to simulate and analyze the 3D flow of free convection heat transfer in a
transformator using Ansys Fluent software.

Simulation of a two-dimensional transformator
Heat transfer is one the phenomena occurring in many important industrial
processes whether we need to add heat or remove heat from the systems. One
of the systems in which we need to remove the heat is a transformer. A
transformer is an electrical system used for transferring electrical energy or
electricity from one electrical circuit to another. Transformers are cooled using
natural, forced and combined convection. Both air and fluids can be used in
cooling systems. CFD simulations will help engineers understand and analyze
the process of cooling and finally design low cost and efficient cooling system
for a typical transformer. Some of the systems are: ONAN (oil natural and air
natural), ONAF (oil natural and air forced), OFAF (oil forced and air forced),
OFWF (oil forced and water forced). Many other systems exist and we can
design new innovative systems for transformers cooling. Mr CFD Company will
assist you to achieve better designs for cooling systems for transformers.

Simulation of fluid flow and heat transfer in aluminum foam porous
media for thermal sink cooling
A porous media consists of a volume with pores and stomata. In some
applications of fluid dynamics, we need to investigate the fluid flow in porous
media. This occurs in places where a fluid passes through the pores in the
material. In this analysis, it has been attempted to simulate and analyze the
effect of porous materials on heat transfer from a heat source in a cooling
heat sink by Ansys Fluent software.
