2. The pastor of the Community Church of Providence

possesses decades of experience in ministry and
mission trips. In his leisure time, the Reverend Evan
D. Howard enjoys reading the works of classic writers
such as Ernest Hemingway.

3. Throughout the last decade of his life, Ernest
Hemingway wrote serious war fiction. Five of his
stories remained unpublished for decades,
although he had given his publisher permission to
publish them after his death.

4. In 1998, “Black Ass at the Crossroads” became
the first of these stories to see publication. Twenty
years later, The Strand Magazine published “A
Room on the Garden Side” in its summer issue.

5. Two more of Hemingway’s unpublished stories, “The
Monument” and “Indian Country and the White Army,”
will finally enter the public eye in a new edition of For
Whom the Bell Tolls set for publication in the summer
of 2019. That will leave only one unpublished work,
titled “The Bubble Reputation.”
