We use speech sounds, blended into whole words, as we talk, and do this so quickly we often aren’t really aware of those smaller parts. If we were to take pictures of those speech sounds, using a ‘Speech Sound Camera,’ we would discover around 150 ‘speech sound pics’ in the English language. If they represent the same sound, they are organised within Speech Sound Clouds.
