With offices in Shreveport, Louisiana, the
Rational Middle Media Group and its founder,
Gregory Kallenberg, are responsible for the
Rational Middle Film Series. Haynesville: A
Nation’s Hunt for an Energy Future, the initial
and successful film in the planned series,
leads the way in the company’s efforts to
initiate an evenhanded conversation about
the energy industry’s movement toward a
sustainable clean energy future. The Rational
Middle Energy series' primary sponsor is
Shell Energy Company.
3.
Haynesville is a documentary that follows
the lives of three citizens of backwoods
Louisiana, exploring how their lives are
affected by the discovery and exploitation of
natural gas contained in the Haynesville
shale formation. This reserve of an estimated
178 trillion cubic feet of natural gas (with an
energy reserve value equal to 28 billion
barrels of oil) is thought to be the largest
reserve in the world.
4.
The film takes an up-close look at some of the
issues through examination of the conflicts and
challenges faced by an environmental crusader
fighting the energy companies, a preacher who tries
to build a school with the windfall obtained by his
church, and a local farmer who can keep his
homestead acreage or become an energy
millionaire. Highly acclaimed in the media for its
broader examination of future global energy
prospects, it has been screened at film festivals and
media outlets worldwide. Further information about
the making of Haynesville and its impact to date can
