Guy Fawkes was caught trying to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605 to kill King James I in what became known as the Gunpowder Plot. Now every November 5th, people in Britain celebrate Bonfire Night by making effigies of Guy Fawkes to burn on bonfires and setting off fireworks to commemorate his failed assassination attempt. Traditional foods eaten include bangers and mash, toffee apples, and roasted marshmallows.
2. • Remember, remember the 5th of
November, gunpowder, treason and
plot!
• Why do we celebrate bonfire night?
