known as “TGFU” Teaching
Game for Understanding is a
student -cantered approach
which focuses on the play
aspect of sport.
It Improves the tactical and
strategic thinking.
Develops skills for further game

4. Game sense focuses on four categories to highlight
these common strategies : INCASION,
NET/COURT/WALL, STRIKE/FIELD AND
TARGET GAMES.

5. To get students to understand the aim or propose of the game they are
playing
gives the students the opportunity to explore at their own pace
Game sense encourages problem solving through the use of physical
activity.
Children can understand similarities between games and explore
common principles’ (Curry 2011).
Game sense integrates physical, intellectual and social learning.
Asks students to perform in an environment where decision- making,
tactics, problem- solving and skill development are developed
consistently throughout a lesson.
Students enhance their skills and knowledge (social and physical) to
incorporate safe, satisfying physical activity into their lives (Stevenson,
2007).
6. • It provides competent, fun and excitement
that can be gained from games and sport
experience.
• The teacher can modify the games to involve
all the children and keep them active.
• Involves an additional time to let children
practice the skills and understand the concept.
