3. INDIAN SPORTS
There are a number of popular sports in India but cricket is the most
popular.
The country also has won eight Olympic gold medals in field hockey.
India has hosted and co-hosted several international sporting events,
including the 1951 and 1982 Asian Games, the 1987, 1996 and 2011
Cricket World Cup, the 2003 Afro-Asian Games, the 2010 Hockey
World Cup and the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Major international sporting events annually held in India include the
Chennai Open, Mumbai Marathon, Delhi Half Marathon, and the
Indian Masters.
The National Games of India is a national domestic sports event,
which has been held in the country since 1924.
6. Steroids and Drug Use :-
Since the 1960s, the use of
performance-enhancing drugs has
been a problem in college and
professional sports of all kinds.
Performance-enhancing drugs
(PEDs) include anabolic steroids,
stimulants, human growth hormone
and supplements.
The battle against PEDs has been
a long slog.
Ethical Issues
7. Discrimination:-
Discrimination has many faces.
Racism, gender discrimination
and homophobia are social
justice issues plaguing a wide
variety of aspects in our
society; the sporting world
included.
It seems society still has a lot
of growing to do.
Ethical Issues
8. Ethical Issues
Gambling:-
Illicit and insider gambling isn’t as big
of a problem in America as it is
elsewhere in the world.
While the problem does persist in the
country, the respective gambling
scarcity in America may be attributed
to how previous scandals have been
handled.
9. Ethical Issues
Players and owners have to
negotiate mandatory issues
relating to hours, wages and
working condition.
The agents entrusted to
conduct business on player’s
behalf should be working as
per well laid out norms that
serve the best interests of
the game.
10. Conclusion
As compared to other sporting nations , India's
achievement may be meager but we need to keep in
mind the infrastructure and other such conditions
which are essential for a big country.
India has always been short of this but as of now,
building sports persons.
