Big Tree Concept of Designing
Balance:
This is an even distribution of weight enabling
something to remain upright and steady or a
condition in which different elements are equal or
in the correct proportions. Balance follows
symmetry where there is an even amount of weight
distributed throughout your space.

We believe that any functional space must encompass the 5 principles & concepts of design: Balance,
Repetition, Scale, Proportion and Harmony. Without these key principles, the design concept is lacking.

Repetition:
This is the repeating visual elements such as
line, colour, shape, texture, value or image
tends to unify the total effect of a work of art as
well as create rhythm. A few ways to
incorporate repetition is through: curtains,
furniture, fabric, carpet, wallpaper or tile

Scale & Proportion:
This is the relative size and scale of the various
elements in a design. These are the most
important factors in design whether it is on the
exterior of a building or the inside of your
interior space, all design elements should be
complimentary of the space (things to take into
consideration: ceiling height, pattern size,
furniture size, fixtures and size of your space).

Harmony:
This is where all parts of the visual image relate
to and complement each other. Big Tree
Designers create music to the eye when they
can harmonize by mixing colours, patterns &
textures creating a beautiful oasis.

Auditorium
The Auditorium space types are areas for
large meetings, presentations, and
performances. Auditorium space type
facilities may include assembly halls,
exhibit halls, auditoriums, and theatres.
Big Tree Auditorium spaces are designed
to accommodate large audiences. As
such, they tend to have wide spans and
are multiple-stories high in order to
accommodate seating, sightline, and
acoustical requirements

Multiplex
A multiplex is a movie
theater complex with multiple screens
within a single complex. They are
usually housed in a specially designed
building. Sometimes, an existing venue
undergoes a renovation where the
existing auditoriums are split into
smaller ones, or more auditoriums are
added in an extension or expansion of
the building. The largest of these
complexes can sit thousands of people
and are sometimes referred to as
a megaplex by Big Tree.

Landscaping
A garden should make you feel you've
entered privileged space -- a place not
just set apart but reverberant -- and it
seems to us that, to achieve this, Big
Tree puts some kind of twist on the
existing landscape, turn its prose into
something nearer poetry

Glass Facade
The façade of a building is often the
most important aspect from a design
standpoint, as it sets the tone for the
rest of the building. From the
engineering perspective of a building,
the façade is also of great importance
due to its impact on energy efficiency.
Almost all buildings use glass for
windows, so a facade is only labelled
as glass if the opaque parts of the
surface (i.e. areas that are NOT
windows) are also clad in glass.

Curtain Wall
A curtain wall system is an outer
covering of a building in which the
outer walls are non-structural, but
merely keep the weather out and the
occupants in.
As the curtain wall is non-structural it
can be made of a lightweight material,
reducing construction costs. When
glass is used as the curtain wall, a
great advantage is that natural light
can penetrate deeper within the
building.
