1. The Paris Olympic soccer event will end with the
women’s final
For the first time, the women’s final will follow
the men’s semifinal in the Olympic soccer
competition at the 2024 Paris Games.
On Wednesday, FIFA released the Olympic
soccer competition schedule. Additionally,
according to the governing body, there won’t be
any doubleheaders in France, making each game
a stand-alone occasion. The latest sports news
in English also mentions that ” On August 10,
the women’s final will take place in Paris’s Parc
des Princes. The men’s gold-medal game will
take place the day before in the same stadium.
Beginning on July 24, the combined tournament
will visit seven French cities: Paris, Bordeaux,
Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice, and Saint-
Etienne”.
2. The men’s tournament will kick off in Marseille,
with France serving as the host nation, and the
women’s tournament will begin on July 25 in
Lyon, the location of the 2019 Women’s World
Cup final.
It’s especially thrilling that this will take place in
France, said FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a
prepared statement. To better serve its 211
member associations, FIFA recently reopened an
office in “a country with a distinguished history
of developing and excelling in both men’s and
women’s football. It has hosted some of the
most illustrious FIFA tournaments, including the
most recent FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019.”
By winning the CONCACAF W Championship,
the U.S. women qualified for the Olympics,
whereas Brazil and Colombia qualified for the
Copa America.
