thenassigna shippingcarriertoan inboundoroutboundloadbasedonone of the followingcriteria:
 Leastexpensivecarrierrate
 Rate shopping
 Route plan
 Mode of shipment
 Transportationtender
You can group shippingcarriersbyusingaspecificcarrierservice asa carrier group,andthenset upa
sequence inwhichthe carriergroupwill be rated.
Set up a shipping carrier
Use the Shippingcarrier form to setup a carrier service,mode of shipment,transportationtender,and
ratingprofile forthe shippingcarrier.
1. ClickTransportation management > Setup > General > Shippingcarrier.
2. ClickNewto create a newshipping carrier.
3. On the OverviewFastTab,specifythe shippingcarrierdetailsbyusingthe fieldsdescribedinthe
followingtable.
Field Description
Shippingcarrier Enter a unique identifier (ID) for the shipping carrier.
Use carrier Select this check box to use the specified shipping carrier for shipment.
Mode Select the ID for the shipment mode.
Vendor Select the vendor account to which you want to assign the shipping carrier.
SCAC Enter an ID for the Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC).
Activate carrier
rating
Select this check box to enable automatic rating for the shipping carrier.
4. Optional:Inthe Transportation tenders field,selectone of the followingmethodsforupdating
the detailsof transportationtender:
 Manual – Manuallyupdate the transportationtenderdetailsbyusing
the Transportation tenders form.
 EDI – Automaticallyupdate the transportationtenderdetailsbyusinganElectronicData
Interchange (EDI) inthe Transportation tenders form.
5. Optional:Inthe Pro numbersequence field,selectanumbersequence thatisassociatedwitha
genericengine.
6. On the Service FastTab,click New.Enter the carrier service detailsbyusingthe fieldsdescribed
inthe followingtable.

Carrier Service Enter a unique ID for the carrier service.
Transportation method Select the ID for the transportation method.
External code Enter an external code for the shipping carrier.
Billing group ID Select the ID for the billing group.
7. Optional:Inthe Load template ID field, selectthe IDforthe loadtemplate.
8. On the AddressFastTab, click New,andthenenterthe addressand purpose of the shipping
carrier.
9. On the Rating profile FastTab,click New.Set upthe detailsof the ratingprofile,suchasrate
engine,rate master, transittime engine,andcarrierfuel index.Ormore information,see Setup
a rating profile.
10. ClickCarrier fuel index.Setupthe fuel surchargesforthe shippingcarrierbasedon the
transactiontime,price pergallon(PPG),andcurrencyof the country/region.Formore
information,see Setupaccessorial chargesforashippingcarrier.
11. ClickCarrier accessorial charges. Setup the accessorial chargesforthe shippingcarrier.
12. Optional:Click Accessorial assignments.Configure otheraccessorial chargesanddefinethe
criteriaandrating calculationsforthe shippingcarrier.
13. ClickConstraints.Setup any restrictionsorindividual settingsforthe specifieditem,shipping
carrier,or shipment.
14. Click Rate master. Set up a rate base for the shipping carrier. For more information, see Set up

15. Click Transit time engine. Set up the transit time for the shipping carrier. For more information,
see Set up transportation management engines.

3. Set up a carrier group
Use the Carrier group formto group the shippingcarrierswiththeircorrespondingshippingservices.
1. ClickTransportation management > Setup > General > Carrier group.
2. ClickNew.Inthe Carrier group field,enteranID forthe carriergroup.
3. On the DetailsFastTab, click New,andthenselectthe IDs forthe shippingcarrierandthe carrier
service.
4. In the Preference sequence field,enterasequence numberforthe shippingcarrier.This
numberwill be usedforratingthe carriergroup.
