I am Rakesh Dayanandan, a Master’s graduate. I have gained more than 2
years capital market experience from American Investment Bank,
Northern Trust and Investment advisors Giant State Street Global
Advisors. I have a very strong interest in pursuing a career in your
company.
I have a handful of experience in the field of IB and Finance. My post
graduation was in the field of the International Business with strong
exposure in asset management from the “University Of Dundee,
Scotland (UK)”.
The course covers- The Master’s program in the International Business
Management helps us to understand the internal and external aspects of
the business. The market study and research helps to identify the
competitors and their strategy, so as to build a strategy to have a
competitive advantage over them. The trade and Investment management
gives an overall picture about the global markets and its uses and
bottlenecks. The Strategic Decisions of the business motivates us to
ponder into the new creative aspects of the business, in order to stabilize
our brand in the global market. The theories cover the old and new

3. Our team (Investment Management Liaison Group) receives the trade intimation in the form of fax from Investment
Manager which is viewed through an application called EDM (Electronic Document Manager). On receipt of the
trade details, the essential trade execution parameters ( can be trade and settlement bics, sedols,DTC number,ISIN,
NT identified account numbers etc) are checked thoroughly through application IMAP before its been assigned to
Domestic (USTP) and Global (GTP) execution teams. The orders will be further subjected for matching process
from brokers. In event of discrepancies, the above mentioned teams contact our team with queries, which will be
resolved with the help of internal and external clients. Series of events can occur during the settlement process
ranging from short sale, urgent securities lending, assets being not coded to cross border settlements for which we
ensure the trade is up for different markets in timely manner. Team is subjected to high pressure as many deals has
to be through in short time span sided with exotic currency foreign exchanges in some cases which has to be done
through sub-custodians. All the deals are entered up in an application called Fund Master.
In the cases for Free vs Free trades for which the securities are received in but the cash has to be wired out, Our team
set up Client Initiated Transactions through Web cash movement. The funds are moved out of system on manager
approval. The payments above threshold limit are subjected to call back for which we raise the ERM (Enterprise
relationship manager)
Daily audits are the integral part of our team which includes check list, trade checks etc. This is the essential
attribute of our internal control reporting which has improved our audit rating.
The Data Ops Specialist position is responsible for data feed processing, Fund reconciliation and NAV calculation.
Funds which we handle include Pension funds, Spider Funds etc. The specialist is responsible for ensuring the data
supply from external data aggregators are legit through Fund investigation and making the money available for
Portfolio managers to trade. The job also involves resolution of cash breaks on the complex corporate action events
of M & A, Stock splits, Spin off, Tender offer, Dividend Reinvestments. In addition to Fund reconciliation, We
handled Position and cash reconciliation of Futures and Options. Futures reconciliation is done with help of
applications such as Bloomberg and Internal SsgA application such as RKS. Investigating the price and position
discrepancies on equities is done on daily basis and we worked closely with Interactive Technology support team
and TLM team for feed monitoring and data processing issues.
The position is highly important and has high visibility to important stakeholders like Marketing, Interactive Product
Managers and the Finance data team.
In addition to the above primary responsibilities, the role demands accurate and timely communication of issues,
failures and resolution in these cases meeting strict SLAs.
As a fund analyst I was entrusted in doing the cash reconciliation for EMEA funds. The cash movements and equity
positions are monitored to eliminate the risk of getting the trades not declined in the market and making sure the
entitled dividends and other cash exchanges rightly paid and accounted at custody end.
NAV reconciliation is done weekly or monthly basis with position and cash reports extracted through array of
applications and tabulated in Excel sheet. Market Value holding reports are made and furnished to Clients.
