Ensuring that every student is getting what they need to meet school
standards through engaging, strong communication , setting a positive
example Ensuring that all of the students and staff members are involved McGavock Parent

I think that a male mentor to have time with the young man is a plus
man at the school to talk about life situation is always a plus kids these
days need someone to talk to McGavock Parent

I would replace “choice” and “safe” with “ focus” and “comfortable “
because when I read this it’s like McGavock is a problem school and
dangerous so by replacing the fore mentioned words it now looks like
McGavock will be the first to set examples for other schools by new
Vision Statement Same as previous to replace “choice” and “safe” McGavock Parent

I suggest you do not use the word, "rigor." Students and families will
not get on board with a vision statement that uses the word because
they don't understand what rigor is in regards to academics.
McGavock HS's vision should not be to exemplify a safe an engaging
environment, but instead, it should BE a safe and engaging
environment. Maybe something like this...“In cooperation with
students, their families, and the community, we strive to provide the
highest quality education for all students, focusing on high academic,
social, emotional, and behavioral standards; we respect and
appreciate diversity, encourage citizenship, character development,
and prepare our students for future education, employment and
lifelong success.”

In my option i believe it’s to plain. i don’t really like it. it seems like a
5th grader just made it up. As a student i would create something
more creative and unique.

Uh instead of putting learning in “a strong community of learning” just
put it after “engaging,” and you guys could also say “strong bonds
binding our community, brimming with creativity and [insert another
adjective].” And the last sentence is fine, except maybe instead of high
expectations I would put something along the lines of “fair” high
expectations scare people myself included. I already did McGavock Student

Culture is the word I'm unsure about. It feels foreign, so instead you
could replace it with domain or a fancy word for place. Otherwise, the
draft sounds solid. I feel like this statement is pretty accurate. McGavock Student

To be known…is ambiguous and subjective. There’s no way to measure
that
Public education should be math science English, logic not political agendas or
cultural indoctrination McGavock Parent

That in my future is that I hope that I want to succeed in my classes in
school and that’s what I feel I would like to succeed in all my classes and all through school for my future McGavock Student

I'm not sure safe is the best words. For long time residence it suggest
you are talking about the days when McGavock was mostly know for
knifes and fights on the evening news. I like the rest. I like this. It is realalistic and outlines the key areas of focus. McGavock Business Partner

I love the idea. How are we going to implement this. And what is being
done to serve and strengthen and support the teachers in allowing
creativity in lesson plans, encouraging parent support and
communication and creating safe spaces in areas that have become
increasingly violent this year. I think coming up with a vision is great.
Anyone can write words on a page. What are you doing to create
change. What is the action behind the fancy words. Mr Wall had an
action plan. He put himself into the school and like Dr Underwood
worked to createThe space that he wanted created. This new principal
is not even letting parents know when there is a problem at school.
Communication is key and she only sends communication that reflects
positively on her. I want honesty. I also heard that she is making it
difficult for parents to be an active force in school. I think that’s wrong.
Families are important and knowing what is going on in a child
schooling is a percent right and responsibility. McGavock Parent

I love this vision statement . I think changing "will be" to " is " evokes a
stronger sense of being . The concepts of safe and engaging are mildly
contradicting yet both important "a truthful , free, and humanin
approach to conflict" sounds much nicer and helps show McGavock's
excellent restorative justice program . we should add leadership as a
part of the learning creativity line. I think it should read , " McGavock
High School Is the choice school that exemplifies a a truthful , free, and
humanin approach to conflict, a strong community of learning ,
creativity and leadership , in order to achieve a culture of high
expectations and academic rigor. "
I like this mission statement but academic rigor loses the meaning of
education ; critical thinking sound much more proactive . I think social growth
social development is better then social growth it helps sow the prosses vs the
goal .i think the tense needs to change as well . I think it should read , "
McGavock High School is engaging all students in a community of critical
thinking ,social development , and post-secondary opportunities. " McGavock Student

I have appreciate the extracurricular activities, sport teams, in
particular, and the way volleyball has encouraged hard work in my
daughter I see that influencing hard work in her academics as wellI
also appreciate the academy focus as it unifueky engages the interests
and futures of students
I might add character development as I have appreciated seeing this with my
daughter through participation in sports McGavock Parent

Something about inclusivity, diversity, or acceptance would be cool. I
think those things are really important to today’s generations of
students. Like I said, diversity, inclusivity, or acceptance could be added. McGavock Student

Try McGavock High School will be the choice school to strengthen
your bladder by locking restrooms, increase your ability to take a right
hook to the jaw while walking through the lunchroom, endeavors to
build the bottom line of political charged teachers unions, and to
create a culture of wasteful spending with no Accountability. McGavock Parent

Strange we should say safe when the school is NOT safe nor a place of
high expectations. "McGavock High will be a school that PROVIDES a
safe and engaging environment, returning strong leaders and activists
to the community they live in, while providing a place for creativity
and academic rigor that will rival surrounding school districts." McGavock Parent

Honestly, this statement seems like a mission, NOT a vision.
Remember, a vision is what we hope to achieve IF we fulfill our
mission and the mission describes the founding purpose or major
committments. To me, this should be our MISSION!
THIS should be the vision...what we HOPE to achieve IF we fulfill our
mission...however, please add 'promoting leadership' after 'social growth' AND
at the end of this sentence say for post-secondary and WORKPLACE
opportunities! Another woMcGavock High School will engage all students in a
community of academic rigor and social growth, promoting leadership and
opportunities for post-secondary and workplace success! McGavock Faculty and Staff

This is a good draft, i do believe that the curriculum should be
mentioned - and involve more required honor level courses in order to
achieve and maintain an academically rigorous environment.
Again, this is good - i hope we emphasize though on academic rigor when
executing this mission. McGavock Student
