1. INTRODUCTION
 Fluoride is an essential and beneficial element in
minute concentration for bone and teeth development
but excessive ingestion causes a disease known as
fluorosis.
 Stiffening of joint, deformation of bones, mottled and
chipped teeth are the characteristic symptoms of
fluorosis in human beings.
 W.H.O. (1996) standards permits 1.5mg/L as a safe
limit of fluoride in drinking water for human
consumption.
 The present paper describes the extent of severity of
dental fluorosis in the study area.

2. OBJECTIVES
To find out the status of drinking water
with special reference to fluoride contents
in ground & drinking water.
To find out status of health of the
inhabitants with special reference to dental
fluorosis.

Continuous monitoring of physico-chemical
parameters should be done.
Sufferers must be advised to consume safe water

Vitamin C, Vitamin E etc.
Rainwater harvesting should be encouraged.
