This document discusses martial arts and self-defense. It describes two strategic methods in martial arts: the hard method which uses direct attacks and strikes, seen in arts like karate and boxing, and the soft method which uses indirect force like redirection, seen in arts like judo and wrestling. It also discusses the legal justifications for self-defense, including innocence, imminence and proportionality. Benefits of martial arts are mentioned like confidence, awareness and discipline. Weaker points on the body that one should protect are listed. Judo is defined as a grappling art that follows the soft method of redirection in its throwing techniques.

2.  Many martial arts were practiced in the world
during from the stone age ; the use of the
lance, archery, swordsmanship and many
more.

3. There are two underlying strategic methodologies to the
application of force in martial arts.
Goho and Juho .
The HARD method and SOFT method

4.  The HARD method is characterized by the
direct application of counter force to an
opposing force.
 This may be a direct attack , strike towards the
opponent or a movement directly towards the
opponent etc

5.  The SOFT method is characterized by the
indirect application of force, which either
avoids or redirects the opposing force.
 This may be receiving an attack by slipping past it,
followed by adding force to the attackers limb to
unbalance him.
