CDM Smith designed and built four earthquake-resistant schools in the district
of Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The project was part of the U.S. Agency for
International Development (USAID) Pakistan Reconstruction Program, established
to rebuild many of the schools and hospitals destroyed in the country’s devastating
earthquake on October 8, 2005. The project aided earthquake recovery by fast-
tracking completion of the schools, performing extensive community outreach
and providing job training that will continue to benefit the local workforce.
