3. IN BRIEF
Journal editors review all articles submitted to their Journal, choose
those they believe are appropriate for the Journal to send for peer
review, and use peer reviewers' advice to make a final judgment about
what gets published.
As a result, it is critical to understand how people make their
judgments. The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic is a landmark event in our
field.
However, starting an open-access journal for the global community of
risk and crisis communication researchers and practitioners has never
been a better moment. In this blog, we provide an update on the
Journal's position in terms of acceptance rates, global viewpoint, and
reading rates (1).

4. IN TRODUCTION
Journal editors are generally short of time and must make an early assessment of the appropriateness
of work. When confronted with a manuscript, they often examine the cover letter
, abstract, conclusion,
and references.
They utilize this to determine if the contribution is appropriate for the publication and has a practical
effect.
Editors are constantly balancing the originality and relevance of a paper against the readership's
expectations and the Journal's influence. Journal editors aim to publish high-quality research that is
relevant to their audience.

As a result, the Journal received 34% of submissions throughout
these two years. Over the last two years, 63% of papers that got

27% were rejected.
7. 10% of papers that got a revise and resubmitted judgment had
not yet been resubmitted at the time certain writers authored this

for manuscripts submitted in the past two years. The average and
median review timeframes are fewer than 60 days.
However, we appreciate the Editorial Board's numerous
contributions to the Journal, particularly their prompt and
constructive critiques(2).

GROWING READERSHIP
11. We have proven the Journal's expanding prestige and reach in this piece. The Journal also stays
quick and sensitive to our time's defining challenges, such as the special call for research on
COVID-19.
There is room for expansion in terms of publishing more research from varied areas throughout the
world and reaching out to other nonacademic entities. As the world's attention remains focused on
the COVID-19 epidemic, we must respond to the challenge of distributing knowledge that might
enable solutions to this and future crises.
