● Tell me about yourself:
You have to organize the content of this answer. TIP: Start with some basic personal information.
Make an introduction to continue with your academic experience and conclude with your work
experience.
Use connectors or phrases that enhance your speech. “On the other hand”, “about my work
experience”...
Use gerunds to express more specific details: I enjoy ...working, going, spending, listening, helping,
etc...
3. Activities out of work or university
● It is important that you express activities that illustrate your time organization, discipline and
spare time activities. Do not say on this part examples related to study English or similar.
● Focus on sports, instruments, activities such as reading, singing, visiting new places (volcanoes,
waterfalls, hotsprings, national parks…)
● Stay honest. Do not make information up. If you don't have much to say think of an activity you
are just starting with.
● Provide details.
● Prohibited to say: sleeping, eating...those are basic needs.
4. What do you know about the company?
● Investigate first. Go to their website. Start following the companies you want to apply to on their
social networks.
● Do not memorize anything but mention facts such as: year the founded the company, branches
around the world, headquarters, accounts they have and any other details like special projects
or similar.
● Do not focus on the help or opportunities they provide to the employees. This question
objective is to analyze if the interviewer has investigated and knows about the company..
5. Strengths...
● It is prohibited to mention more than one positive characteristic. Reflect on ONE good and
competitive feature and develop an answered for it.
● You MUST backup the information you provide. Explain why that is one characteristic of yours
and provide examples. Be specific.
6. Weaknesses...
● Focus on one feature.
● Do not speak about this feature in present. Follow the structure we have studied: You
acknowledge the characteristic. You explain what used to happen, you explain the plan you
came up to, finally, you explain the good results that plan has provided to your life.
7. FUTURE...
● You MUST use the future structures on this part.
● If you speak about the times you expect your goals will be achieved, it would be easier for you
to use different future structures.
● Focus on academic and professional goals, before finishing you can include some personal
details.
● Try to visualize yourself on that company and express the professional growth you will like to
have.
● Always focus on acquiring new skills: languages, certifications, programs, university career...
8. Customer service experience and Empléate
-Take advantage of all past work experiences you have had, everything counts. Explain about the
companies, the time you work in there and all the tasks you were supposed to developed.
-Use this on your favor to expand your knowledge about the customer, scenarios, kinds of customers,
good service, working under pressure, learning…
-If you don't have CS experience use on your favor the Empléate program; but you have to be specific,
provide details, explain, give examples so you can demonstrate that as a matter of fact you have a
clear idea of this topic.
- About Empléate...write a detailed paragraph of the program. Provide information about the three
areas: English and Customer Service, Soft Skills, Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Excel.

● Create a bank of questions for you to have as a backup… focus more on the objectives of the
company, any special project you know they have, the culture of the company, or focus on the
interviewer and ask him or her about the experience at that job position or the company.

● The objective of this question is to demonstrate interest about the company's processes.

12. Extra Tips
Create a vocabulary bank.
When looking for a job position, study the job offer. Analyze the descriptions and gather vocabulary
from it. Useful vocabulary that matches your own skills or experience.
If the interview is virtual, do not read...it is easy to percieve when you are doing this.
Control your emotions.
ACTIVITY:
Look for a job offer you might apply to because you consider you have the adequate profile. Work on
this and take it as the base to build the interview.
