3. 27 NIRMA INTERNATIONAL
CONFERENCE ON MAN
AGEMENT
(NICOM-2024)
In today's rapidly changing and unpredictable business landscape, organizations are facing a
multitude of challenges and uncertainties. Disruptions can arise from various sources, such as
technological advancements, shifting market dynamics, geopolitical instabilities, regulatory
changes, and unexpected events like pandemics or economic crises. Recent examples of such
events include the global impact of Covid-19, the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict,
geopolitical tensions between China-Taiwan and North Korea-South Korea, post-pandemic
challenges, the US-China trade war, technological disruptions, and the pressing issue of
climate change and sustainability. These events have had a profound impact on businesses
and economies worldwide, leading to disruptions in supply chains, reduced demand, and
posing survival and growth challenges for organizations. Furthermore, central banks
worldwide have responded to unprecedented inflationary pressures by increasing interest
rates, thereby increasing the cost of capital and potentially affecting demand and hiring
negatively. With the global economy already in a fragile state, there is a growing risk of a
severe global recession. Financial and economic crises also have adverse effects such as
underemployment, unemployment, increased vulnerability, and negative impacts on well-
being, education, health, nutrition, and progress towards sustainable goals. Managing
disruption and fostering growth in uncertain times demand a multifaceted approach.
Organizations must be prepared to make agile decisions, considering the dynamic nature of
the environment. It is crucial for businesses to embrace the uncertainty, adapt, and build
resilience, while reimagining their operations, seeking innovative solutions and strategies to
overcome challenges and pursue growth.
NICOM-2024 provides a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, strategies,
and information. The conference aims to promote research and theory building, furthering
the scientific foundations of the management discipline. It will feature plenary sessions
delivered by distinguished academicians, industry leaders, and policymakers, as well as paper
presentations by research scholars, academicians and corporate executives.
