Afterintense overnightinvestigationandconsultation,the channel decidedithadnoalternative butto
enditsrelationshipwithhim.Althoughhe wasactinginan individualcapacityandhispostingwas
unsolicited,he wasnonethelessaseniormemberof staff andthe channel believesthere wasnoroom
for anyotheroutcome and that damage control wasimperative.
Seriousallegationshave alsobeenlevelledateNCA aboutPillay’scensorshipof storiesandhis
managementstyle.The channeltakesthe allegationsof censorshipveryseriously.Tothat endeNCA is
co-operatingfullywiththe SA National EditorsForumthathasrequestedclarity.
