Think of this as your long overdue detox from the evils of city life, an overworked lifestyle,
and an overdose of social media and technology. This place is meant to disconnect, to sit
back, observe the stars, dance with nature and enjoy the slow conscious living.
What is worth appreciating and experiencing is that the property is an ecological haven,
with the hosts aiming to secure a piece of land where human activities would have the
least possible impact on Mother Nature.
As a result, the farm is modelled on sustainable principles of permaculture with an aim to
conserve and promote biodiversity through organic/agro forestry, annual reforestation,
water and soil conservation, off grid living and sustainable tourism.
For instance, the farm produces its own electricity through a hydropower plant; all
furniture on the property is made out of repurposed wood. The hosts even ensured that
no trees were cut unnecessarily during the property’s construction, which is why you will
also find some tree friends in your cottages 😉
The farm is mammal-friendly and home to many native species of rabbits, the giant
Malabar squirrel, civet cats, macaque, deer, bats etc. So keep your fingers crossed for
you may get lucky!
JAADOOGHAR EXPERIENCES
Lounging and Community Building
Common Areas on the property are hotspots for age old style of community building. You
can meet other guests on the property and share life stories in our common dining area,
also equipped with a plethora of unique interesting books. We also have a garden and an
area for bonfire, where you can chill and chat your evenings away, or set up a cosy
barbeque.

You could play some outdoor games like badminton and cricket on the farm, or enjoy
playing board games with players known and unknown.
Indulge yourself in the open hot tub on the property or go all out and dip in the natural
streams and splash pools here.
Trekking and Plantation Tour
Trek along the scenic hills, shola forests and plantations of the area. Watch and learn
about the bird and flora species as you take a walk around. You can opt for long treks or
take leisurely walks to the stream and waterfall in the property, or even take a dip in the
stream 😉you can also take an educational walk to the hydro system in the property and
learn how power is generated here from our hosts!
The hosts would love to indulge you in an informative tour of the farm to show how coffee
is grown sustainably and what it takes to give you your morning cup of joy. Here’s a gist of
the life cycle of the coffee plant. The shrub is planted organically which grows up to 30
feet in height. It then grows into multiple stems…. Ah no, we’ll let all that be for the tour!

Jaadooghar Recommends: Since the farm is home to a host of species and trek worthy
routes, do carry a pair of sport shoes to fully enjoy all the activities around.
Bird Watching
Organic maintenance of the farm and large canopy of trees and shrubs has made many
bird species make this property their home. So take binoculars from us and watch out for
these and maybe make a list too of what you see!
Jaadooghar Recommends: The owners have one set of binoculars to let out for bird
watching, but if you’re in some serious mood for this, we recommend you carry your own.
Coffee Harvesting (November to February)
Living on a plantation, comes with its set of advantages- you can experience picking and
processing of coffee first hand!
Jaadooghar Recommends: This is a very unique and hands-on experience and requires
you to get into the plantation where things can get messy. We recommend you wear
casual clothes and shoes while doing this.
If you want to take this a notch up and partake more fully and properly in the coffee
harvesting process, you can also do some serious volunteering on the farm and learn all
about it. This requires you to work for at least 5 hours per day for at least 7 days at a
stretch in exchange of lodging on the property. You will be required to only pay a nominal
amount for your daily meals in this plan. You can opt for this option while checking out on

Located at a distance of about 40 kms from Kadur Railway Station and 150 kms from
Mangalore Airport, the property can be reached by getting a taxi or bus from the
station/airport. It can also be reached via road from Mangalore or Bangalore, which are
at a distance of 150 kms and 242 kms respectively. Away from the hustle bustle, it is
located only about 30-35 min away from the main Chikmagalur market and at a distance
of about 17 kms from Baba Budangiri and 28 kms from the Coffee Museum, which are
few of the main attractions in Chikmagalur.
MEET YOUR HOST
The property is owned and run by Vishal and Aditi. True and passionate conservationists,
Vishal and Aditi originally hailing from the city of Kolkata, decided to set up their lives here
and promote ecological awareness and develop sustainable methods of agriculture.
From making their own compost at the farm to adopting water conversation techniques to
encouraging the ecosystem to flourish on their farm, they have truly created an
atmosphere for sustainable harmonious living with nature. Be sure to spend some time
with them when on the farm and make the most of your ecological stay.
HOUSE RULES AND THINGS TO NOTE
Please note that the tariff includes cost for Breakfast only. Any extra meal is chargeable
and payable at the property directly.
You can get in touch with your hosts for arranging transport to places like Baba Budangiri,
Mullaynagiri and Muthodi Forest Safari and Kemangundi, Belur at an additional cost.
This property is wildlife friendly hence guests are requested not to make excessive noise
after 10 PM. The property has a “TAKE YOUR OWN TRASH POLICY” so the guests are
required to take back any plastic, glass bottles back to the city with them as these cannot
be disposed of on the farm.
Jaadooghar Recommends: Please note that the property is an off grid nest meant for
you to do a technology detox. General mobile networks do not work here and there’s no
Wifi at the property. Only BSNL has some limited connectivity.
Also note that last stretch of approach road to the property is best suited for cars with
good ground clearance.
