5. INTRODUCTION..
• The CORONA VIRUS-
2019 is officially labelled
as Covid-19 by WHO
[World Health
Organization] . It is a
Respiratory illness that
first detected on 30
December,2019 in
WUHAN CITY, HUBAI
PROVINCE, CHINA.

6. COVID -19..
COVID-19 is a world wide PANDEMIC according to
WHO COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by
most recently discovered corona virus.

VI- stands for Virus
D- stands for Disease
While the number-19 represents
the year ,it emerged.

7. CORONA VIRUS disease 2019(COVID-19) is
defined as illness caused by a NOVEL CORONA
VIRUS now called SEVERE ACUTE RESPIRATORY
SYNDROME CORONA VIRUS-2 [SARS-CoV-2]
formerly called 2019 – nCoV. On January
30,2020, the WHO declared the COVID-19
outbreak a Global Health Emergency. On
March 11,2020WHO declared that COVID-
19 is a WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC.

A Pandemic is defined as “an epidemic
occuring worldwide, or over a very
wide area, crossing international
boundaries and usually affecting a
large number of
people.”

INDIA reported its first case
of this Corona virus in late
January in the Southern state
of KERALA.
P.M. Mr. NARENDRA MODI
imposed a 21-days Nation
wide curfew from march 25
in order to curb the spread of
the outbreak, which was
extended until MAY 3,2020.

10. WORLD HISTORY OF COVID-19..
On 31 December,2019,CHINA (East Asia country), was
informed to WHO regarding pneumonia cases with
UNKNOWN ETIOLOGY. Till 3 January, 2020 a total of
44 pneumonia Cases were detected. On 7
January,2020,
Chinese Research Authorities
were announced that they were
Isolated new virus from
HUANAN SEA FOOD MARKET, in
Wuhan (CHINA) named as,
2019-nCoV.

1. Mild Cases: Supportive treatment (Antihistamine and Analgesics).
2. Moderate Cases:
a. Oseltamivir (150mg BID for 5 days)
b. Hydroxychloroquine , Chloroquine ( 500mg BID for 14 Days) or
Ribavirin ( for 5 Days)
3. Severe Cases :
a. Oseltamivir ( 150mg BID for 5 Days)
b. Kaletra ( lopinavir / Ritonavir) ( for 5 Days)
c. Hydroxychloroquine Chloroquine ( 500mg Bid for 14 Days ) or
Ribavirin ( for 5 Days )

A medical test is a procedure performed
to detect, diagnose, or monitor
diseases, disease processess
Susceptibility, or to determine a cause of
treatmen.
COVID-19 testing involves
analyzing samples to assess the current
or past presence of SARS-CoV-2.

14. TYPES OF TESTING FOR COVID-19..
There are three types of testing for
COVID-19:-
1. RT-PCR TEST
2. ANTIGEN TEST
3. ANTIBODY TEST

15. 1. RT- PCR TEST..
It is fastest and most accurate
method. PCR testing is
considered the “GOLD
STANDARD” in SARS-CoV-2
detection. This test actually
detects RNA ( genetic
material) that is specific to the
virus and can detect the virus
within days of infection, even
those who have no symptoms.

16. 2. Antigen test..
[Frequently referred to as a
Rapid test]. This test
detects protein fragments
specific to the Corona
virus. It can be done in a
clinic and hospital. The
time for result is usually
very quick and in some
cases, results can be
reported within 15
minutes. It is a test based
on Swabbed samples.

17. 3. ANTIBODY TEST..
Antibodies, also called as
IMMUNOGLOBULINS are
protective proteins
produced by a person’s
immune system in
response to antigens,
which are essentially
foreign substances, during
a viral infection. In the
case of CORONA VIRUS,
most of the people have
IgM antibodies about 14
days after symptoms.

(DCGI) has formally announced
the final approval for Oxford
AstraZeneca ― Covishield‖ and
Bharat Biotech ― Covaxin‖
vaccines against the corona
virus disease (Covid-19) for
emergency use. CDSCO (Central
Drugs Standard Control
Organisation) accepts the
subject expert committee
reform reactions on Serum and
Bharat Biotech Covid vaccines.

The subject expert
committee (SEC)
under CDSCO had
recommended
Oxford-AstraZeneca‘s
vaccine, which is
being manufactured
by the Serum
Institute of India (SII)
as Covishield , for
emergency use.
