3. EXPLANATION OF RESULT CODES
PM Passed module/unit of study.
PC Pass Awarded Credit or unit of study.
PX/PZ Passed module/unit of study but module is potentially eligible for discounting in the final award classification due to the
presence of unremedied extenuating circumstances on at least one assessment.
FR/QR Failed: to be re-assessed in the module/unit of study prior to the start of the following session.
FE/QE Failed: to be re-assessed in the module/unit of study without attendance during the following session.
FI/QI Failed: to be re-assessed in the module/unit of study with attendance during the following session.
FW/QW Failed or withdrawn from module/unit of study. Not permitted to be re-assessed in the module/unit of study.
AR Failed or recorded as absent from one or more assessments due to reasonable medical or compassionate grounds that
affected performance in assessment. Permitted to be re-assessed in module/unit of study prior to the start of the following
session.
AE Failed or recorded as absent from one or more assessments due to reasonable medical or compassionate grounds that
affected performance in assessment. Permitted to be re-assessed in module/unit of study without attendance during the
following session.
AI Failed or recorded as absent from one or more assessments due to reasonable medical or compassionate grounds that
affected performance in assessment. Permitted to be re-assessed in module/unit of study with attendance during the

PO Progress with outstanding module result(s). The Examining Board will allow enrolment onto the next stage/year of study
subject to successful completion of all elements of the programme.
4. APPEALS
Your results letter confirms the decision of the Examining Board. If you wish to appeal the decision of the Examining Board you will need to
log into your Student Record at https://www.sims.cf.ac.uk and click on 'Submit/Manage appeal' within the My Academic Appeals box. You
have 28 days to appeal a decision of the Examining Board, for further information search for academic appeals on the intranet.
Please note that you are only permitted to submit an appeal on the following grounds:
i. an arithmetical or other error of fact in the results published following the decision of the Examining Board;
ii. a defect or irregularity in the conduct, the written instructions or written advice relating to an Assessment either: unknown to the
Examining Board which can be shown to have had an adverse effect on the student’s performance; or known to the Examining Board and
where the Board has acted unreasonably;
iii. Extenuating Circumstances either unknown to the Examining Board where the student can show good reason why they could not have
been made known to the Examining Board when the student’s results were being considered; or known to the Examining Board and where
the Board has acted unreasonably.
