Seeking a burger and
brew? Chumly’s in
Redwood Falls offers
the cure to that fix by
offering just the right
selection of hamburg-
ers available in a low-
key establishment.
Chumly’s Burger and
Brew has been a sta-
ple in Redwood Falls
since 1984 and also
offers no-fuss service.
Growing up I ate
many hamburgers
and French fries so it
takes a lot for me to
crave or enjoy either
one of them. One af-
ternoon I was craving
a hamburger and de-
cided to visit
Chumly’s on Bridge
Street in search of get-
ting my burger fix. I
haven’t been to
Chumly’s in over 5
years, and upon walk-
ing into the establish-
ment I was charmed
by the fact that very
little has changed in-
side. Being my typical
self I ponied up to the
bar and was quickly
handed a menu.
Chumly’s proudly
serves breakfast,
burgers, wraps, sand-
wiches, and
“munchies”. Being my
typical “all or nothing”
self I ordered the 1/2
pound mushroom and
swiss burger topped
with green olives
along with steak fries.
During my wait I kept
thinking about ham-
burgers and the irony
of myself once being a
vegetarian many years
ago. I mean how can
one possibly limit
themselves whether it
be in diet or mental-
ity?
Just as the anticipa-
tion was about to get
the best of me I
turned around to see
the server carrying a
plate that had to have
my name on it.
Presto! Burger heaven
was right before my
eyes. I quickly dived
into the piping hot
steak fries, which typ-
ically I only nibble at.
I was more than im-
pressed by the sim-
plicity of these streak
fries, just a simple po-
tato with the skin on
and perfectly crisp.
Devouring the steak
fries I set my eyes
upon the mushroom
and swiss burger. The
green olives atop the
burger was something
new to my diverse
diet, anyone who
knows me knows that
the more toppings on
anything the better.
The hamburger patty,
not too thick went be-
yond the hamburger
bun and was in sync
with my simplistic
hamburger patty pref-
erence. The green
olives added a slight
saltiness to your typi-
cal mushroom and
swiss burger taste.
Lucky enough to still
be maintaining my
college freshman
weight, I easily ate the
entire 1/2 pound
burger and fries with
no qualms.
With the feeling of
gluttony I trudged
back to the office un-
sure of how I would
pull through an after-
noon of work. Next
time I'm craving a
burger I will be sure to
visit Chumly’s, how-
ever, I will be sure to
order a beer to top my
“go big, or go home at-
titude.”
Chumly’0s is open
Monday-Saturday
and offers daily lunch
and dinner specials.
