Nigeria.
The event, convened
on behalf of the
federal government
by the United Nations
Industrial Development
Organization (UNIDO),
held between August
31 and September 2,
2016 at the Reiz Hotel,
Central Business District,
Abuja. In attendance at
the 3-day session were
the Honorable Minister
of Agriculture, Chief
Audu Ogbeh, Minister
of State for Agriculture
and Rural Development,
Mr Heneiken Lokpobiri,
representatives of Minister
for Trade and Investment,
representatives of
European Commission
and representatives of
various government
agencies.
The committee was set
upinthewakeofrecent
ban on Nigeria’s dry
beans by the European
Union to address
concerns arising from
the quality of agric
and other non-oil
commodities exported
from Nigeria with
the aim of providing
a holistic framework
that will ensure that no
agricexportfromNigeriais
rejected abroad. Members
of the inter-ministerial
committee are drawn from
different MDAs in the
ministries of Agriculture,
Finance as well as Trade &
Investments.

on Friday, September 30,
2016.
During the inspiring
session, which trended on
the social media with the
hashtag #3StepLeap, the
host spared no details in
expositing on the three
critical success gaps as
well as the required steps
to bridge each of them. He
stressed the importance
ofcultivatingrelationships
and creating networks,
acquiring the right
knowledge/information
as well as discipline.
Participants left the
seminar in a reflective
mood, with one of them
capturing the overral
sentiment by enthusing,
“I have never heard it like
this before. We have all
read books and listen to
motivational speakers,
many of whom talk about
steps to take to achieve
success. But no one
mentions the gaps…”
The monthly event which
attracts people from all
walks of life has been an
inspiration to many.

Team Building,
Group Formation
and Effective
Communication

communication,
teamwork and how having
the same goals and values
are key ingredients to
building a formidable
team.
She also took the students
through a series of team-
building activities to
show the importance
of communication. Her
session ended with
an invitation from the
organisers for her to
coordinate the division of
the students into groups
and take them through
their group formations.
The “Vision 2020: Youth
Empowerment and
Restoration Initiative”
is a youth and national
development initiative
of Lonadek Nigeria.
The initiative aims to
enlighten the Nigerian
Youth on industrial
awareness and help
develop their leadership,
e n t r e p r e n e u r i a l ,
professional and vocational
skills.

Oshodi (FIIRO) is a parastatal under the
agency of the Federal Ministry of Science
and Technology. FIIRO was the idea of an
economic mission sent to Nigeria in 1953 by
the World Bank. The mission’s observation
was that industrial research activities in
Nigeria were diffused and uncoordinated
with no definite direction. Consequently, a
decision was reached to set the Institute in
1956.

FIIRO was the idea of an economic mission sent to Nigeria in 1953 by the World Bank. The mission’s observation was that industrial research activities in Nigeria were diffused and uncoordinated with no definite direction. Consequently, a decision was reached to set the Institute in 1956. FIIRO’s mandate is to assist in accelerating the industrialization of the Nigerian economy through finding utilization for the country’s raw materials and upgrading indigenous production technologies.
