A day after the abducted Assam doctor was mysteriously released and
sent home, Delhi Police found that the kidnappers gave him Rs 15,000
and made him board an Indigo flight to Dibrugarh from IGI Airport on
Monday morning. They warned him not to inform the cops.A police
team is in Dibrugarh to record the doctor's statement, but they'll have
to wait as he is injured and admitted in his own hospital, Puja Nursing
Home. The victim, Dr Hari Pegu was badly beaten up by the kidnappers
after the family said they couldn't pay the huge ransom of Rs 5 crore.
Probe has revealed that the abductors called Dr Pegu and asked him to
meet in Chanakyapuri area. He met them near Ashoka hotel where
they made him sit in their car and drove off.His mobile was switched off

Operations have been intensified to nab the abductors and cops expect a
breakthrough by Wednesday night. A team is in Arunachal Pradesh to quiz a
Congress functionary , the alleged mastermind, but the local administration
has denied them permission. He will be served a notice to join investigations
in the case, the FIR for which is lodged at Nabi Karim police station, sources
said.
Raids are being conducted across Delhi, Haryana, UP and Rajasthan to nab
the abductors who kept Pegu captive for 12 days.
At least 200 people have been questioned so far. Many car thieves have been
quizzed for whereabouts of the suspected Delhi handler of the gang, Sharad
Pandey .A lookout notice has been issued and six teams are hunting for him.
Sources said cops were foxed as the ransom calls were made from Kohima
and Haryana, while the doctor was kept in the NCR and other places in UP.
