Are you struggling with alcoholism or addiction, but you have no idea where to start looking for help? Here are 5 steps to getting help for substance abuse, and how to remain abstinent for good.
2. DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR HEAD
STEP ONE:
Despite what your head is telling you, you can and you
will get sober. The biggest obstacle in your way is
yourself. Good news: you don't have to listen.
4. DON'T QUIT COLD TURKEY
STEP TWO:
Detoxing from alcohol on your own is very dangerous
and sometimes fatal. If you want to quit drinking, you
need to go to a detoxification facility or the
hospital.
5. Hospitalization
Some individuals find comfort in completing
a hospital detoxification. This process looks similar
to a medical detox at a treatment facility, except
that the patient's detoxification takes place in the
confinements of a hospital room. The only downside
to hospitalization is that treatment services are not
provided within the hospital, and the patient will have
to transition to a different facility should they want
to complete an inpatient treatment program.

6. MEDICAL DETOX
At New Method Wellness, we offer detoxification
services, which means that upon arrival our clients
have an appointment with our medical practitioner
and our staff psychiatrist to determine which
medications are necessary to provide our clients
with the smoothest detoxification process possible.
Our clients then reside in a detoxification home
with 24 hour monitoring to ensure the safety of
our clients.
7. TREAT MORE THAN JUST YOUR ALCOHOLISM
STEP THREE:
Remaining abstinent is a success, but this method will
only last for so long before the urge to drink
overwhelms. You need to treat your mind, body, and
spirit, developing tools to cope with triggers
along the way.
8. Inpatient Treatment
Inpatient alcohol treatment provides individuals
suffering from alcoholism with the opportunity to spend
quality time addressing not just their reliance on
alcohol, but also the underlying problems causing them
to turn to the drink as a solution.
10. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH WINNERS
STEP FOUR:
Establishing a healthy community in sobriety is
a crucial aspect of recovery. Surround yourself
with people who lift you up.

of the 5
people you spend the most time with."

12. Connection is a crucial element of sobriety.
The more we examine alcoholism and addiction scientifically, the
more we learn about the importance of connection.

13. UTILIZE SOBRIETY RESOURCES
STEP FIVE:
Alcoholism and addiction are slowly losing the stigma.
More and more resources have developed to rally the
sobriety community and spread hope.
