Essay on Safe Social Networking
Socializing Securely: Using Social Networking Services Mindi McDowell and Damon Morda Social Networking Serves Many Purposes Social
networking is a way for people to connect and share information with each other online. Millions of people worldwide regularly access these types of
services from mobile devices, applications, and websites. According to statistics published by some of the most well–known social networking
services, there are more than 500 million active users on Facebook1, 175 million registered users on Twitter2, more than 100 million users on
MySpace3, and more than 80 million members on LinkedIn4. People may use social networking services for different reasons: to network with new
contacts, reconnect with former friends,...show more content...
This information could then be used in a variety of ways, such as tailoring advertisements, performing market research, sending spam email, or
accessing your contacts. Professional and Personal Implications You may risk professional opportunities, personal relationships, and safety by posting
certain types of information on social networking services. Business data – Posting sensitive information intended only for internal company use on a
social networking service can have serious consequences. Disclosing information about customers, intellectual property, human resource issues,
mergers and acquisitions, or other company activities could result in liability or bad publicity, or could reveal information that is useful to competitors.
Professional reputation – Inappropriate photos or content on a social networking service may threaten a user's educational and career prospects.
Colleges and universities may 2 conduct online searches about potential students during the application process. Many companies also perform online
searches of job candidates during the interview process. Information that suggests that a person might be unreliable, untrustworthy, or unprofessional
could threaten the candidate's application. There have also been many instances of people losing their jobs for content posted to these services.
Although the legality of some of these terminations is

Examples Of Argumentative Essay
Argumentative essay presents a point of view about something and explains the reasons in order to win readers' agreement. It is built around a specific
statement (or main premise) that is debatable within the field in which students are studying. In other words, at the center of an argumentative essay is
a statement with which readers may disagree. The argumentative essay will need to support that statement in a manner that convinces the readers of its
truth. It mainly strives to convince the reader of the writer's point of view, using reasonable and ethical methods .The process of argument composition
varies from writer to writer, most writers follow these three stages: forming an argument, which can consist of discovering a motive for writing and
identifying an audience to address, discovering and sharpening a position, and developing an appropriate style; supporting the argument; and reviewing
the argument, which can include considering the image projected by argument, making substantial additions or deletions to a first draft, and adding an

The first feature is superstructure which refers to the organizational plan of any text and the linear progression of the text. The second feature is the
quality of logical reasoning which is assessed by analyzing the interrelationships of writers' assertions and the associated support or data provided to
substantiate those claims. The third feature is identified as persuasive appeal, including affective appeal and establishment of writer credibility. Finally,
she notes that audience awareness is an important characteristic of successful argumentative writing. The writer must observe an awareness of the
reader's perspective by dealing implicitly or explicitly with possible

In their book They Say I Say, Gerald Graff, Cathy Birkenstein, and Russel Durst outline strategies writers can use to avoid common mistakes often seen
in academic writing. The book thoroughly outlines the different components that make up academic writing, such as initially summarizing what others
have said before, responding with original ideas, proving a purpose to the writing, and connecting the writing in a logical and eloquent manner. The
first part of They Say I Say focuses on how to properly introduce what others are saying and stresses the importance of providing context for one's own
argument. The authors explain how the context and purpose for the writing needs to be established, preferably early on, in order to interest readers to
about an argument (20). By giving the readers background information, the readers will have a much easier time relating to the author's argument. After
demonstrating the need to provide the "they say" portion of an essay, the authors move on to how exactly one can introduce others' arguments. The
three main ways of introducing others' ideas discussed throughout the first part of the book are paraphrasing, summarizing, and quoting. For each of the
three, the authors discuss pitfalls that writers should avoid and strategies that writers can use to improve. An example of a pitfall when summarizing is
how many writers can accidentally create a "list summary", which does not differentiate the information in the original work that is

In order to have a good argumentative essay, there are a few important standards of critical thinking that is needed to be found in the essay such as
the clearness, accuracy, importance or relevance, sufficiency, depth, breath and precision that is stated by Nosich. The strength of this argumentative
essay is consider weak because it does not capture the interest of the reader and was not persuasive enough; even though from the introduction of the
argumentative essay includes full sentences and a good opinion, the argumentative essay is all objective. The introduction includes too much of the
emotional appeals, such as when it wrote " Day after day the number of people worshipping this icon has been growing since the birth of this
creature. well to many it may seem harmless idol but in my opinion, Mickey Mouse is an 'devil in disguise' influencing the minds of young and old
people to adopt the culture of the 'devil' which doesn't blend will with the moral values of society and should be banned". To improve the introduction,
the writer should include of all objectives statements relative facts and appeals to the mind of people who agree or disagree with the topic.

In the Introduction to They Say, I Say: The Moves that Matter in Academic Writing, Gerald Graff, Russel Durst and Cathy Birkenstein provide
templates designed to format different ideas contradicting sides while building a structure in a clear and organized way. Specifically, Graff and
Birkenstein argue that the types of writing templates they offer a way to engage in critical thinking and analyze the supporting ideas you formulate in
a reasonable way, yet, also given the opportunity to explain why or for what cause you're disputing your point and explaining how you disagree or
agree with other points made if there are any. As the authors themselves put it, "academic writing is argumentative writing... You need to enter a
conversation, using what others say as a launching pad or sounding board for your own views" (page 3)....show more content...
In my view, the types of templates that the authors recommend do help to organize putting arguments together and giving an extended vocabulary to
those who might feel stuck. For instance, as mentioned in the book, this templates might help writers to improvise and build up ideas for their
points. In addition, critical thinking is an unlimited form of judging , with that said, templates offer plenty of concepts to cover your argument up.
Some might object, of course, on the grounds that templates could be a form of plagiarism since this concepts are used without being taken from the
writer himself. Yet I would argue that mapping ideas with the techniques offered in a template isn't a form of plagiarism since we all develop our
techniques and skills from methods used in the past. Overall, then, I believe templates aren't just a form to assure you a well developed and organized
argument but also a creative form to express your ideas in a different diagram – an important point to make given a good writer developed from using
different methods from different techniques, not necessarily plagiarizing, but replicating with their own

Without this layer of gases the Earth would be too cold to be inhabited, perhaps 20 degrees cooler than now. But, then amount of gases in this layer
must remain constant. Even a slight increase could have drastic results. Many people believe that a one degree increase in the temperature will not
cause much harm. The truth is with every degree of increase in temperature a 100 more wildlife species are put in danger of extinction. Numerous
experiments and studies prove that an increased level of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, is causing climate change and causing it fast.
2) Human Activities
A) Burning of fossil fuels–This is the most prominent and deadly source of climate change. Burning of fossil fuels can release greenhouse gases
ranging from carbon dioxide to ammonia. With massive industrialization currently going on, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increasing. Transport
and heating are also major energy sources. Almost 7 giga tonnes of Carbon dioxide is emitted per year. In the U.K three–fourths of energy produced
comes from fossil fuels. Mineral fuels like petroleum and coal are major sources of energy. In the last 150 years more than 45 Billion tonnes of
carbon dioxide has been emitted .The most problematic factor is that in the last decade; there has been no slowdown in carbon emissions.
B) Poor use of land–Plants are the only natural purifiers of air and also the most abundant. But, many trees

Writing An Argumentative Essay
During this course I have learned there is in fact a great deal to writing. Throughout my lifetime I have had to write numerous amounts of essays and
papers for various subjects, all requiring different styles and techniques. Before engulfing myself into the writing process I would try and think of
whom I am writing to and what I am writing about. I always just assumed I was writing for my audience, that being my teacher. Writing an
argumentative research paper is something I had yet to accomplish in my college career. Not only was it thought provoking but this paper challenged
me in many ways, such as, knowing who I should be directing throughout the essay to as well as the simple steps of organizing my thoughts and ideas.
Also, simply reflecting on what information needs to be apart of the essay and what doesn't.
While writing for academic reasons I would always write for the grade, not for the purpose to write and truly convince the reader that what I am
writing about is in fact important. I have learned that when writing an argumentative research paper you are writing for an audience of people not
just to one person. You are writing to convince the reader why they should care about the topic, and the reader should be able to feel that passion in
your writing. You are writing to broaden the thoughts regarding this topic to whom ever chooses to read your paper not just for that grade. Thinking of
who I should direct my paper to is something I still struggle with, however,

Argumentative Essay On The Penny
Everybody in America has once had that shiny, copper, small penny jingling in their pockets. The smallest denomination in the U.S. worth only one
cent, has been a part of this country for hundreds of years. This coinage has brought a significant effect on our strong American economy. But a
problem has been brought up within the last couple decades on whether or not the penny shall be abolished or not. The penny has historical importance
and is appreciated more than people believe pennies to be
To the average person the penny only has one value and that is in the sense of the economy. If asked many people say the penny is worth one cent.
Which it is but the penny has more than the economic value it exemplifies the history of the U.S. In source G, Pennies, it shows the two types of
pennies one from the past around 1793 and one from the present. These two visuals show that the penny has been around for more than 200 years. It
also shows that the penny has meaning to the people because there has been time taken to remodel and enhance the visual appeal. The present visual of
the penny can be described as sentimental to the citizens of the United States because of the person that is on the penny. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th
president of this country is the face of the copper coin. The penny has a job to pay homage to one of this country's most important presidents. As said
by Michael Bishop in source F, "President Bush signs Lincoln Penny Redesign Into Law", he states that "the

Mandatory Vaccination Argumentative Essay
Mandatory vaccinations have been hotly debated in the United States for over two centuries, making the argument almost as old as the country itself.
As early as 1809, Massachusetts became the first state to mandate the world's premiere vaccine. Authorities recognized the life–saving benefits of the
smallpox vaccine. They chose to require inoculation to protect the community from further outbreaks. Public outrage ensued as some community
members feared the new vaccine and believed they should be able to choose if they wished to receive it. The most vocal protestors formed
anti–compulsory vaccination groups and were successful in getting laws overturned in many states. However, even the United States Supreme Court has
upheld states' rights to require immunization. (A) Vaccinations should be...show more content...
Despite significant progress in the fight against preventable disease, millions still die needlessly each year. According to UNICEF, originally known
as the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, a vaccine preventable disease is responsible for 2 million fatal infections worldwide
each year. About 75% of these deaths occur in children under five years of age. (N) In more vivid terms, UNICEF notes that vaccine–preventable
diseases kill a child every 20 seconds. (D) Due to high rates of childhood vaccination, the United States has experienced a dramatic reduction in such
deaths. A comparison of the years 1950 and 2010 clearly illustrates the benefits of vaccinations. During this 60–year period, deaths from diphtheria
reduced from 410 to 0, tetanus from 336 to 3, pertussis from 1,118 to 26, and polio from 1,904 to 0. Measles deaths dropped from 468 in 1950 to 0
in 2008, the last year a United States death rate was recorded. It's not surprising that vaccinations have been touted as one of the top ten health
achievements of the 20th century by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Socialising On The Internet
Using the internet to socialise is an increasingly popular activity. Some of the most popular websites for this are Facebook, twitter, bebo, msn and
many others. Social networking is when you speak to other people through the internet. Facebook is by far the most popular with over 500 million
users and 250 million of them logging in everyday. Twitter is not far behind Facebook with over 177 million users. With social network sites you can
keep in touch everyday and you can share your photos and news with hundreds of people. There are many advantages and disadvantages of socialising

crime.
In conclusion, I think the internet is a great way to socialise with people from all over the world and communicate with lost family members and old
friends but I think people should be a lot more careful when speaking to strangers. You should not give out any bank details or personal information
through these sites and should be more aware of frauds and paedophiles. Although the internet is a great way to play games and meet new people,
people need to be aware of the many dangers that social networking

Writing An Argumentative Essay Templates
Some students prefer to write in there own style of writing, while others believe that following a template is not only beneficial but also constructive.
Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein say "Academic writing calls upon writers not to simply express their own ideas, but to do so as a response to
what others have said." Templates give weak writers, a chance, to improve on their writing in an organized fashion, while others believe that such
templates may hinder there creativity and retract from the originality of the writer. Many other templates exist other than the ones taught in schools.
The writers of "They Say, I Say' seek to convey that these "other" templates provide a structured pattern of ideas that lead to well formed arguments.

Thesis Statement Against Homework
The Case Against Homework:
Homework/it is "All pain and no gain"
There is very very little, if any, correlation between homework and test scores
Not a single study has ever supported the folk wisdom that homework teaches good study habits and self–discipline.
Most of homework is assigned as busywork to keep kids busy, assuming that they will waste their time.
A lot of teachers feel pressured to assign homework by tradition, administrators, and/or parents.
Most of the folk wisdom that homework is good and helps your academic achievement, test scores, responsibility, study habits, and to connect with your
family has either been proven wrong, the opposite, or has not been proven at all.
Homework only allows kids to grow academically, because it takes up so much time to do, they don't have time to do anything other than...show more

Exercise Argumentative Essay
Exercise. The Ultimate Preventative.
Exercise should be one of the largest priorities in an individual's life. In the United states, the leading cause of death is heart disease, which can be
prevented simply by the task of exercising. According to Disease Prevention and Exercise there are about 1.6 billion people in the world who are
considered to be obese and the United States has one of the highest rate of obesity. Exercise can not only reduce the risk of health problems and other
diseases, but it also has an effect on an individual's mood and one's psyche. Exercising is even enjoyed and seen as a hobby by some individuals. As
a society, we need to drastically improve our physical fitness. By doing so we can increase our own physical health, mental health, and our overall
well–being. Exercise. It's nothing new. It has been around since the beginning of mankind. Around 10,000 B.C. everyday physical activity was required
from the nomads when they hunted or collected water. Some nomads would even travel up to twenty miles in one day to visit neighboring tribes.
Around 500 B.C. the Chinese teacher, politician, and philosopher Confucius believed that exercise played a key role in preventing diseases that
involved organ malfunction. This belief led him to influence the development of chinese gymnastics, wrestling, and even dancing. Around 200 B.C. the
Greeks held fitness in extremely high regards. They believed that the development of the body was just as important as the

subject and what the point is of the paper. When stating the thesis, you also have to state what the opposite opinion would be by summarizing. Stating
both views and starting with a hook can grab the reader's attention and also keep the reader's attention. Templates in They Say/I Say can come in
handy when figuring out how to incorporate or state what others have to say. An example is "In their recent work, Y and Z have offered harsh

Essay On Iran Nuclear Deal
The Iran Nuclear Deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was signed on July 14, 2015 between the Islamic
Republic of Iran and the P5+1, which consists of the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK), Russia, France, China, plus Germany, and the
European Union (EU). The framework of this deal states that Iran would need to reduce, convert, and redesign its nuclear facilities and accept the
additional protocol in order to lift all nuclear–related economic sanctions, thus, freeing up tens of billions of dollars in oil revenues and frozen assets.

Their ability to access wider world markets and export oil to the US threatens Saudi Arabia's monopoly of the Middle East oil market and will result in
both states exacerbating regional rivalry. Given the long–standing alliance between the US and Saudi Arabia, the Saudis will undoubtedly aggressively
push back against any chance of allowing Iran to gain economic advantage. There is also tension between Iran and Israel, in which, Iran builds up its
nuclear arsenal to counter Israel's and the continuation of Iran serving as the main threat to Israel's security. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin
Netanyahu spoke out about Iran's threat on Israel's survival to former US president Barack Obama when the JCPOA's framework was under discussion.
Commitment problem, the uncertainty of states delivering on their promises, is another topic of argument for Trump's dissatisfaction towards the Iran
Nuclear Deal. Under the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act (INARA), the US has to certify Iranian compliance, "'appropriate and proportionate'
when weighted against the benefits to US national security", every 90 days. In October 2017, it is reported that President Trump "is now expected to
decertify the agreement, leaving it up to Congress to decide whether to re–impose economic sanctions on Iran" (Wilts, 2017). The statement sends a
confusing signal to the world because nobody is able to understand Trump's motives towards a deal that he has

Week 4 Exercise #2 "Introduction" They Say/I Say In the introduction to "They Say/I Say": The Moves That Matter in Academic Writing, Gerald Graff
and Cathy Birkenstein provide templates designed to give students a taste of the language and patterns that sophisticated writing requires. These
templates focus writers' attention on what is being said while also helping them to focus on rhetorical patterns. Specifically, Graff and Birkenstein
argue that the most effective writing template they offer is the "they say_____, I say_____" formula. This formula expresses personal ideas ("I say") in
response to another person or group ("they say"). This is the underlying structure of effective academic writing. It prompts students to progress in their
writing in ways they might have not otherwise done. As the authors themselves put it, "listening closely to others and summarizing what they have to

In my view, the types of templates that the authors recommend can help return writing to its conversational base. For instance, using the "they say / I
say" model shows students that they can best develop their argument by looking outward and engaging the other person's voice. In addition, this
model cuts across different disciplines and genres of writing. It can be used for anything from creative writing to academic writing. Some might
object, of course, on the grounds that templates seem too simplistic. Yet I would argue that the templates are only as simple as the author would like to
make them. The template's content, which may be very complex, could be best organized by a basic structure. Overall, then, I believe that templates
are a fantastic way to quickly organize writing in a manner that is clear and

Some parents are not aware of dangers of internet that brings to their children particularly making friends through internet. For example, their children
might get cheated with someone else on internet and their children will not tell what happen to them when they encounter danger. According to BBC
News, a 47 year old man defrauded a 13 year old girl online and asked to meet face to face. Luckily, the girl's mother found out beforehand or else her
daughter might be in danger. From this news, we can see that there internet friends are not always honest and they are more likely to consider as
un–trustful strangers. Therefore, parents should concern more about their children, teach them about the dangers of making friends on internet, and
avoid them from going out with a stranger.
With the development of internet, people are able to meet new friends who have the same interest or hobby through the internet. Although, it is easy to
make friends on internet, people do not know whether the person they are talking to is good or bad. Some people will also spend most of their time on

Essay On Safe Social Networking

  • 1. Essay on Safe Social Networking Socializing Securely: Using Social Networking Services Mindi McDowell and Damon Morda Social Networking Serves Many Purposes Social networking is a way for people to connect and share information with each other online. Millions of people worldwide regularly access these types of services from mobile devices, applications, and websites. According to statistics published by some of the most well–known social networking services, there are more than 500 million active users on Facebook1, 175 million registered users on Twitter2, more than 100 million users on MySpace3, and more than 80 million members on LinkedIn4. People may use social networking services for different reasons: to network with new contacts, reconnect with former friends,...show more content... This information could then be used in a variety of ways, such as tailoring advertisements, performing market research, sending spam email, or accessing your contacts. Professional and Personal Implications You may risk professional opportunities, personal relationships, and safety by posting certain types of information on social networking services. Business data – Posting sensitive information intended only for internal company use on a social networking service can have serious consequences. Disclosing information about customers, intellectual property, human resource issues, mergers and acquisitions, or other company activities could result in liability or bad publicity, or could reveal information that is useful to competitors. Professional reputation – Inappropriate photos or content on a social networking service may threaten a user's educational and career prospects. Colleges and universities may 2 conduct online searches about potential students during the application process. Many companies also perform online searches of job candidates during the interview process. Information that suggests that a person might be unreliable, untrustworthy, or unprofessional could threaten the candidate's application. There have also been many instances of people losing their jobs for content posted to these services. Although the legality of some of these terminations is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Examples Of Argumentative Essay Argumentative essay presents a point of view about something and explains the reasons in order to win readers' agreement. It is built around a specific statement (or main premise) that is debatable within the field in which students are studying. In other words, at the center of an argumentative essay is a statement with which readers may disagree. The argumentative essay will need to support that statement in a manner that convinces the readers of its truth. It mainly strives to convince the reader of the writer's point of view, using reasonable and ethical methods .The process of argument composition varies from writer to writer, most writers follow these three stages: forming an argument, which can consist of discovering a motive for writing and identifying an audience to address, discovering and sharpening a position, and developing an appropriate style; supporting the argument; and reviewing the argument, which can include considering the image projected by argument, making substantial additions or deletions to a first draft, and adding an introduction and conclusion (Cheng and Chen 2009, Day,1997, Liu,2005,Mayberry,2009)....show more content... The first feature is superstructure which refers to the organizational plan of any text and the linear progression of the text. The second feature is the quality of logical reasoning which is assessed by analyzing the interrelationships of writers' assertions and the associated support or data provided to substantiate those claims. The third feature is identified as persuasive appeal, including affective appeal and establishment of writer credibility. Finally, she notes that audience awareness is an important characteristic of successful argumentative writing. The writer must observe an awareness of the reader's perspective by dealing implicitly or explicitly with possible Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. In their book They Say I Say, Gerald Graff, Cathy Birkenstein, and Russel Durst outline strategies writers can use to avoid common mistakes often seen in academic writing. The book thoroughly outlines the different components that make up academic writing, such as initially summarizing what others have said before, responding with original ideas, proving a purpose to the writing, and connecting the writing in a logical and eloquent manner. The first part of They Say I Say focuses on how to properly introduce what others are saying and stresses the importance of providing context for one's own argument. The authors explain how the context and purpose for the writing needs to be established, preferably early on, in order to interest readers to about an argument (20). By giving the readers background information, the readers will have a much easier time relating to the author's argument. After demonstrating the need to provide the "they say" portion of an essay, the authors move on to how exactly one can introduce others' arguments. The three main ways of introducing others' ideas discussed throughout the first part of the book are paraphrasing, summarizing, and quoting. For each of the three, the authors discuss pitfalls that writers should avoid and strategies that writers can use to improve. An example of a pitfall when summarizing is how many writers can accidentally create a "list summary", which does not differentiate the information in the original work that is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. In order to have a good argumentative essay, there are a few important standards of critical thinking that is needed to be found in the essay such as the clearness, accuracy, importance or relevance, sufficiency, depth, breath and precision that is stated by Nosich. The strength of this argumentative essay is consider weak because it does not capture the interest of the reader and was not persuasive enough; even though from the introduction of the argumentative essay includes full sentences and a good opinion, the argumentative essay is all objective. The introduction includes too much of the emotional appeals, such as when it wrote " Day after day the number of people worshipping this icon has been growing since the birth of this creature. well to many it may seem harmless idol but in my opinion, Mickey Mouse is an 'devil in disguise' influencing the minds of young and old people to adopt the culture of the 'devil' which doesn't blend will with the moral values of society and should be banned". To improve the introduction, the writer should include of all objectives statements relative facts and appeals to the mind of people who agree or disagree with the topic. • 5. In the Introduction to They Say, I Say: The Moves that Matter in Academic Writing, Gerald Graff, Russel Durst and Cathy Birkenstein provide templates designed to format different ideas contradicting sides while building a structure in a clear and organized way. Specifically, Graff and Birkenstein argue that the types of writing templates they offer a way to engage in critical thinking and analyze the supporting ideas you formulate in a reasonable way, yet, also given the opportunity to explain why or for what cause you're disputing your point and explaining how you disagree or agree with other points made if there are any. As the authors themselves put it, "academic writing is argumentative writing... You need to enter a conversation, using what others say as a launching pad or sounding board for your own views" (page 3)....show more content... In my view, the types of templates that the authors recommend do help to organize putting arguments together and giving an extended vocabulary to those who might feel stuck. For instance, as mentioned in the book, this templates might help writers to improvise and build up ideas for their points. In addition, critical thinking is an unlimited form of judging , with that said, templates offer plenty of concepts to cover your argument up. Some might object, of course, on the grounds that templates could be a form of plagiarism since this concepts are used without being taken from the writer himself. Yet I would argue that mapping ideas with the techniques offered in a template isn't a form of plagiarism since we all develop our techniques and skills from methods used in the past. Overall, then, I believe templates aren't just a form to assure you a well developed and organized argument but also a creative form to express your ideas in a different diagram – an important point to make given a good writer developed from using different methods from different techniques, not necessarily plagiarizing, but replicating with their own Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The truth is with every degree of increase in temperature a 100 more wildlife species are put in danger of extinction. Numerous experiments and studies prove that an increased level of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, is causing climate change and causing it fast. 2) Human Activities A) Burning of fossil fuels–This is the most prominent and deadly source of climate change. Burning of fossil fuels can release greenhouse gases ranging from carbon dioxide to ammonia. With massive industrialization currently going on, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increasing. Transport and heating are also major energy sources. Almost 7 giga tonnes of Carbon dioxide is emitted per year. In the U.K three–fourths of energy produced comes from fossil fuels. Mineral fuels like petroleum and coal are major sources of energy. In the last 150 years more than 45 Billion tonnes of carbon dioxide has been emitted .The most problematic factor is that in the last decade; there has been no slowdown in carbon emissions. • 10. Writing An Argumentative Essay During this course I have learned there is in fact a great deal to writing. Throughout my lifetime I have had to write numerous amounts of essays and papers for various subjects, all requiring different styles and techniques. Before engulfing myself into the writing process I would try and think of whom I am writing to and what I am writing about. I always just assumed I was writing for my audience, that being my teacher. Writing an argumentative research paper is something I had yet to accomplish in my college career. Not only was it thought provoking but this paper challenged me in many ways, such as, knowing who I should be directing throughout the essay to as well as the simple steps of organizing my thoughts and ideas. Also, simply reflecting on what information needs to be apart of the essay and what doesn't. While writing for academic reasons I would always write for the grade, not for the purpose to write and truly convince the reader that what I am writing about is in fact important. I have learned that when writing an argumentative research paper you are writing for an audience of people not just to one person. You are writing to convince the reader why they should care about the topic, and the reader should be able to feel that passion in your writing. You are writing to broaden the thoughts regarding this topic to whom ever chooses to read your paper not just for that grade. Thinking of who I should direct my paper to is something I still struggle with, however, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Argumentative Essay On The Penny Everybody in America has once had that shiny, copper, small penny jingling in their pockets. The smallest denomination in the U.S. worth only one cent, has been a part of this country for hundreds of years. This coinage has brought a significant effect on our strong American economy. But a problem has been brought up within the last couple decades on whether or not the penny shall be abolished or not. The penny has historical importance and is appreciated more than people believe pennies to be To the average person the penny only has one value and that is in the sense of the economy. If asked many people say the penny is worth one cent. Which it is but the penny has more than the economic value it exemplifies the history of the U.S. In source G, Pennies, it shows the two types of pennies one from the past around 1793 and one from the present. These two visuals show that the penny has been around for more than 200 years. It also shows that the penny has meaning to the people because there has been time taken to remodel and enhance the visual appeal. The present visual of the penny can be described as sentimental to the citizens of the United States because of the person that is on the penny. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of this country is the face of the copper coin. The penny has a job to pay homage to one of this country's most important presidents. • 12. Mandatory Vaccination Argumentative Essay Mandatory vaccinations have been hotly debated in the United States for over two centuries, making the argument almost as old as the country itself. As early as 1809, Massachusetts became the first state to mandate the world's premiere vaccine. Authorities recognized the life–saving benefits of the smallpox vaccine. They chose to require inoculation to protect the community from further outbreaks. Public outrage ensued as some community members feared the new vaccine and believed they should be able to choose if they wished to receive it. The most vocal protestors formed anti–compulsory vaccination groups and were successful in getting laws overturned in many states. However, even the United States Supreme Court has upheld states' rights to require immunization. (A) Vaccinations should be...show more content... Despite significant progress in the fight against preventable disease, millions still die needlessly each year. According to UNICEF, originally known as the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, a vaccine preventable disease is responsible for 2 million fatal infections worldwide each year. About 75% of these deaths occur in children under five years of age. (N) In more vivid terms, UNICEF notes that vaccine–preventable diseases kill a child every 20 seconds. (D) Due to high rates of childhood vaccination, the United States has experienced a dramatic reduction in such deaths. A comparison of the years 1950 and 2010 clearly illustrates the benefits of vaccinations. During this 60–year period, deaths from diphtheria reduced from 410 to 0, tetanus from 336 to 3, pertussis from 1,118 to 26, and polio from 1,904 to 0. Measles deaths dropped from 468 in 1950 to 0 in 2008, the last year a United States death rate was recorded. It's not surprising that vaccinations have been touted as one of the top ten health achievements of the 20th century by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Templates give weak writers, a chance, to improve on their writing in an organized fashion, while others believe that such templates may hinder there creativity and retract from the originality of the writer. • 19. Essay On Iran Nuclear Deal The Iran Nuclear Deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was signed on July 14, 2015 between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the P5+1, which consists of the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK), Russia, France, China, plus Germany, and the European Union (EU). The framework of this deal states that Iran would need to reduce, convert, and redesign its nuclear facilities and accept the additional protocol in order to lift all nuclear–related economic sanctions, thus, freeing up tens of billions of dollars in oil revenues and frozen assets. US president Donald Trump does not like the Iran Nuclear Deal because he thinks that there is "not enough tooth" in the deal and not enough enforcement mechanisms in...show more content... Their ability to access wider world markets and export oil to the US threatens Saudi Arabia's monopoly of the Middle East oil market and will result in both states exacerbating regional rivalry. Given the long–standing alliance between the US and Saudi Arabia, the Saudis will undoubtedly aggressively push back against any chance of allowing Iran to gain economic advantage. There is also tension between Iran and Israel, in which, Iran builds up its nuclear arsenal to counter Israel's and the continuation of Iran serving as the main threat to Israel's security. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke out about Iran's threat on Israel's survival to former US president Barack Obama when the JCPOA's framework was under discussion. Commitment problem, the uncertainty of states delivering on their promises, is another topic of argument for Trump's dissatisfaction towards the Iran Nuclear Deal. Under the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act (INARA), the US has to certify Iranian compliance, "'appropriate and proportionate' when weighted against the benefits to US national security", every 90 days. In October 2017, it is reported that President Trump "is now expected to decertify the agreement, leaving it up to Congress to decide whether to re–impose economic sanctions on Iran" (Wilts, 2017). The statement sends a confusing signal to the world because nobody is able to understand Trump's motives towards a deal that he has Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Argumentative Analysis: 'They Say I Say' Luigi Vittatoe Professor Luke Leonard WRI1001 First Year Writing 2 November 18, 2015 Week 4 Exercise #2 "Introduction" They Say/I Say In the introduction to "They Say/I Say": The Moves That Matter in Academic Writing, Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein provide templates designed to give students a taste of the language and patterns that sophisticated writing requires. These templates focus writers' attention on what is being said while also helping them to focus on rhetorical patterns. Specifically, Graff and Birkenstein argue that the most effective writing template they offer is the "they say_____, I say_____" formula. This formula expresses personal ideas ("I say") in response to another person or group ("they say"). This is the underlying structure of effective academic writing. It prompts students to progress in their writing in ways they might have not otherwise done. As the authors themselves put it, "listening closely to others and summarizing what they have to say can help writers generate their own ideas." Although some people believe that templates stifle creativity, Graff and Birkenstein insist that...show more content... In my view, the types of templates that the authors recommend can help return writing to its conversational base. For instance, using the "they say / I say" model shows students that they can best develop their argument by looking outward and engaging the other person's voice. In addition, this model cuts across different disciplines and genres of writing. It can be used for anything from creative writing to academic writing. Some might object, of course, on the grounds that templates seem too simplistic. Yet I would argue that the templates are only as simple as the author would like to make them. The template's content, which may be very complex, could be best organized by a basic structure. Overall, then, I believe that templates are a fantastic way to quickly organize writing in a manner that is clear and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
