1. Wardens slap parking tickets on cars stranded behind police cordon - in place
after man is hit by bus
Traffic wardens slapped a string of parking tickets on driver’s yesterday morning when their cars
were cordoned off as emergency crews helped a 33 year old man who had been hit by a bus. The
man was dragged under a bus on Hankinson way. He was flown to hospital by an air ambulance and
police immediately taped of part of the road- including one side of the council car park next to
Boardwalk Library. One of the outraged car owners says“I was on the precinct and got a half-hour free ticket which was due to expire at 11.02am.Because of
the incident with the bus, the police were not allowing us to cross back over the road. Two traffic
wardens were putting tickets on all the cars. I spoke to them and told them to use a bit of common
sense – where is their humanity? People are blocked off by a tragic accident and there they are giving
out tickets.”
