2. We decided to set our music video in a modern day
house, everything is to be shot inside the house and no
glimpse of the outside should be made (well, not entirely).
This is to portray the idea that in a single house or place
many things can happen, and that a place can hold many
memories for someone.
The use of a modern day house allows us to use many
different rooms; bathroom, living room, dining
room, kitchen, bathroom etc. it allows ways the audience to
connect with the actors as they are portrayed in a everyday
setting.
This use of an everyday setting pulls the audience in to
understand and feel the feelings and actions that are
happening in the music video.
3. The use of a bathroom suggests
seclusion, the small space allows the
protagonist to feel safe and
secluded. It may also be one of the
few places she doesn’t have
memories of her loved ones.
4. The dining table is circle,
representing completeness. It also
suggests a place for people to sit
around and talk, and enjoy time
together, however that also means it
holds memories, memories that may
pain the protagonist.
5. The living room in itself is where
people live, this is where the
protagonist feels most empty, the
vast space filled with memories pains
her to a numb feeling and she finds
herself looking into space while
sitting on the sofa.
6. The use of doors in the music video is
a very important motif.
Emotionally, they represent the ending
and beginning of things. Some people
may go through a door together and
then walk through another alone, or
close it before the other can go
through as well, representing the
ending and beginning of relationships.
7. The use of stairs suggests the stages
in relationships, you may climb to the
top together or one of you may fall
while the other is stuck in the same
place waiting for you. It is very
significant as it cold also suggest the
climb to healing, it takes effort but
without effort you could get no
where.
