In 2008 I took voluntary redundancy from the Bank of Scotland and bought into a franchise within the field of
IT Support & Consultancy. This ideally complimented my own business of 12 years called Aztec Computer
Consultancy Ltd and allowed me to gain an active foothold in the local market quickly and efficiently. This
business has now been running for over a year and in that time has attracted clients from a number of

Director of Corporate E-Business – As The Retail Bank was located and managed from Halifax I took the
opportunity to move to Corporate Banking and manage the E-Business Programme Area. Responsibilities
included:
Promotion and support of Online Banking to all Corporate Customers (i.e. those with turnover > £1M)
Development of a new advanced online Banking platform for the larger Corporate customers (> £5M
turnover)

Head of Sales – With the merger of Bank of Scotland & Halifax the eCommerce units in both companies were
merged with my core responsibilities being:
Promotion of Online Banking to all Retail Customers across the wider group
Significant increase in the number of Active Users
Development of Online Application forms for all Core Products
Increase in use of Online Applications.

Associate Director, Online Projects – Responsible for all Online initiatives across Bank of Scotland from

for large Partnerships like M & G and The AA through to the first implementation of Internet Banking in Bank of
Scotland. This regularly involved the use of scorecard development and analysis for use in vendor selection.

X, OLE, BackOffice and SQL Server. The system (BOSLINK) has been successfully implemented in over 60 large
corporate clients in the UK (e.g. Pearl Assurance, Standard Life, Selftrade, Bell Lawrie White).

Role of Systems Analyst / Developer - In order to enhance my skills I concentrated on PCs and managed a
team of developers with the purpose of expanding the use of PC technology within the Bank.
Major projects included the Bank of Scotland HOBS for Windows project and a PC based signature imaging
system for central processing units. These applications covered a wide range of tools including Visual Basic,
Excel macros, Word Basic, Access Basic and Mainframe Access. Within my own time I also studied and
successfully achieved Microsoft Certified Professional Status in all core desktop systems. Using these skills,
along with the data from COMPASS, I developed a series of risk models to assist the executive in evaluating
the Corporate lending book.

strategy to streamline or improve the process. This invariably involved the use of new technology or innovative

3. Microsoft Windows had recently been introduced to the Bank and I was instrumental in introducing the first
network and thereafter managing it. This consisted of 35 users running a variety of systems including Windows
NT, OS/2 & Windows for Workgroups.
This job progressed to software development within the PC environment whereby I developed and
implemented a number of large scale PC / Mainframe projects. These included a full-scale profit plan system
for the entire bank utilising both PCs at the Branch and links to the Banks IBM mainframe.
